Malaysian King orders HINDRAF leaders to complete jail term

Kuala Lumpur, Apr.24 : Malaysian King Sultan Mizan Zainul Abidin has ordered the five Hindu Rights Action Force (HINDRAF) leaders, detained under the Internal Security Act (ISA), to serve their two-year jail term.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Karpal Singh, the lawyer representing the HINDRAF Five, said the King's order had come through the Home Ministry's Security and Public Order Division officer Mohamad Irza Dahari.

According to the New Strait Times, the letter said the Prime Minister's Advisory Board had forwarded its recommendation to the king who issued the order on March 26, following an appeal by the five.

They are detained for allegedly organising an illegal rally in November last year.
