100 MCA Semporna members quit

Tawau: MCA Semporna Division Chief Datuk Thien Kok Poh led more than 100 party members, including from the Tawau Division, to quit the party Tuesday.

Citing dissatisfaction with the changes that have been happening since the last General Election in March, he said it was time for Sabahans to come forward especially in voicing out their rights.

Among the issues he brought up was the party's representation in the State Assembly.

He said despite having existed in Sabah since the 90s, MCA was only given one State Constituency, Kepayan, that is being held by Datuk Edward Khoo.

He also claimed the rakyat had not benefited much in terms of public service efficiency.

Thien joined MCA in 2001 and the following year was elected as Semporna division head cum youth chief. He was re-elected to lead the division again for the term 2006 - 2008.
