The Federal Constitution and Malay Supremacy (Ketuanan Melayu)

UMNO wants evidence of no Malay Supremacy (Ketuanan Melayu) in the Federal Constitution. (Utusan Malaysia 28/05/08 pg3)

The most racist UMNO Minister Datuk Noh bin Omar asks Lim Kit Siang for the evidence. To start of with there is nothing in the Federal Constitution about Malay Supremacy (Ketuanan Melayu). How does the racist minister who happens to be a law graduate want prove when it is not in the Federal Constitution in the first place.

Article 153 only provides for Reasonable privileges for the Malays in getting scholarships, licences, permits etc. This article was drafted and finalised in 1957 when the Malays were genuinely backward in the fields of education and economics/business.

In any event Article 153 is subject to Article 153 (7) which states that provided 153 does not interfere with the rights of the non-Malays and Tunku Abdul Rahman in UMNO’s written proposal to the Reid Commission asked for the special privileges for only 15 years. It is fifty years today and the racist Minister is still harping on “bully and strong arm tactics” as UMNO has the back up of the police, army and the civil service.

Anyway the evidence wanted by the racist Noh bin Omar is in Hindraf’s publication titled “50 years of Constitutional violations by the (UMNO controlled) Malaysian Government” which the minister can obtain from the special branch police or get a copy from the editors of Malaysiakini.com.

This publication contains 450 pages of historical documents procured from the public records office, Kew, London (National Archives) and compiled by our Human Rights Defender P.Uthayakumar. This is the evidence Mr. Minister Noh bin Omar.

Read history and don’t just speak that there was never a social contract as UMNO keeps claiming exist. There is never one word about Malay supremacy (Ketuanan Melayu). But there are volumes of documents, memorandums etc by the then people of Malaya on which basis the Reid Commission drafted the Federal Constitution stating equal rights, equal opportunities, all communities to be in the civil service and judiciary.

The judiciary and the civil service, police force and the army should not be dominated by one community. In fact the then people of Malaya dreamt of a harmonious and fair Malaysia and nothing like the racist and religious extremist policies the UMNO regime has led us into in the last 50 years.

Do your homework Mr. Minister and UMNO. Don’t just flaunt your racist and religious extremist majoritarion might with impunity. The original people of Malaysia are the orang asli. The Malays came to Malaysia, but only earlier in time compared to the Chinese and Indians.
