Malaysia: Raja Petra attacks Zulkifli Nordin, the Islamist

In a strong attack against a member of the Party Keadilaan Rakyat (PKR) for his stand against the Bar Council and his 'mild' views of the infamous Internal Security Act (ISA), Raja Petra from behind the ISA iron curtain said Zulkifli Nordin was an Islamist who do not care about other people's opinion.
The jailed blogger and editor of Malaysia Today website said in the missive against lawyer and Member of Parliament Zulkifli Nordin that the latter should resign from the PKR and sit as an independent in the Parliament.

“He is not a true Muslim and he is certainly not a true leader. He should redeem himself by resigning. Resign from the party and remain an independent candidate just like Ibrahim Ali who said he supports the ISA,” he wrote.

“Better still, Zulkifli Nordin should resign his seat in Kulim and allow for a by-election so that we can see whether the voters would like to continue to vote for a member of parliament who does not care about other people’s opinions,” he added.

The electoral commission has recently abandoned an appeal against Z. Nordin's election as MP of the Kulim Parliamentary seat, which he won as a member of Anwar Ibrahim's wife Wan Azizah Wan ismail's party the PKR.

RPK as he is well known said Zulkifli Nordin “is a disgrace not only to Parti Keadilan Rakyat but also to Islam,”

However, knowing Zulkifli Nordin personally the writer here will state that he is a good listener and has for a long time been very welcomed by criticism and comments from journalists as well as members of the society.

Zulkifli Nordin said he did not care about other people's opinion when it comes to Islam and that he had the absolute right to defend Islam at all cost. This statement by Zulkifli Nordin has sent RPK over the top and the article published on Malaysia Today, an exclusive indeed since it is from the jailed blogger, will shock many in the PKR.

Some analysts said to Worldfutures that the PKR is now facing an internal battle on which policies to adopt with regards to Islam and to members who supports the ideas propagated by Zulkifli Nordin.

“With the majority of bloggers and comments against Zulkifli Nordin on the MT website, it is clear that Malaysians are now seeing a different image of the opposition party, the PKR. Will the PKR send Nordin off by kicking him out of the party?” asked the analyst.

He added that if the PKR was to force Zulkifli Nordin to resign from the party and to become an independent MP or to join another party, it will be a clear signal that the PKR does not allow different views other than that that of the 'groups' known to be attacking Malay political power in the country.

The analyst also added that such intolerance by the supporters of the PKR will hurt the image of the party in the general public's views and that it will bring irreparable damages to the reputation of the PKR as a party that accepts everyone's views.
