Hindraf supporters freed

PUTRAJAYA, Nov 25 — The authorities have decided not to press charges against the 10 supporters of the outlawed Hindu Rights Action Force arrested outside the Prime Minister’s office on Oct 23.

They were told they were free when they reported at the police station here this morning, Hindraf coordinator R. Kannan said.

He said the police told them that they were letting them go.

The group, which included the wife and daughter of Hindraf leader P. Waythamoorthy, who is in self-exile in London, was attempting to submit a memorandum to the Prime Minister when they were detained.

They were remanded for three days and released a day before Deepavali on police bail. However they were required to report to the police station every Tuesday.
