Last but not least Vwaishhnnavi the youngest Hindraf activist and the only daughter of Waytha Moorthy who stood in the front lines alongside the very many brave Hindraf supporters at the various public campaigns.

Acknowledgements

To my beloved wife who had “smuggled” in and out from Kamunting Prison scores of my handwritten drafts of this book at every weekend prison visit without even a one weekend miss throughout all my 514 days of detention without trial under Malaysia’s draconian Internal Security Act. And on the very next weekend day typing out the next draft and “smuggling” the same back in.

Gevitha who stayed back late to finalise this book and S.Jayathas who had tirelessly read through this book and compiled the appropriate photographs and the arrest list till late in the night.

Nyana Arokiam who helped translate this book into Tamil.

Chapter 1

UMNO Racist Agenda Ab Initio is to preserve Malaysian Indian poor, socially engineer future Indian poor In April 2007 during a telephone conversation with P . Waytha Moorthy, my youngest brother and Hindraf Chairman, we again spoke about the tears and fears of in particular the Malaysian Indian poor and that we should do something more seriously to take our struggle to the next level.

We were by then alarmingly concerned about their pain, suffering, marginalisation, discrimination and the Indians having been excluded and segregated from the national mainstream development of Malaysia with impunity for long 50 years at the hands of the UMNO controlled Malaysian Government. To add insult to injury even the supposedly multi-racial Opposition parties PKR, DAP, PAS, NGOs, Suhakam, Bar Council, civil society, bloggers, internet community and the print and electronic media generally (hereinafter referred to as the opposition parties, NGOs’ and the Malaysian civil society) chose to abandon and not champion or highlight Indian issues in tandem with its gravity and seriousness as they are politically powerless, no funding to champion Indian issues or deemed lacking in press worthiness, that is it does not appeal to the 90% Malay muslim plus Chinese population and simply because they do not get to score very much political points and shrewdly wanting to be politically correct.

For pointing this out we have been asked why we are fighting everybody. Our answer is it is because of “everybody” by commission and omission as evidenced hereinafter that has led to this critical state of the Indian poor in Malaysia after 50 years of independence to this state and escalating by the day.
