What Malaysians think of BN government?

HILARIOUS
'Hilarious' is the one word that defines 2010. Ronnie Liu's aide charged for alleged bribe of RM5,000 when the 'thief' minister of Sarawak owns huge commercial and other prime properties in Canada, USA and London and MACC investigated the late Teoh Beng Hock for alleged corruption involving RM2,500.

The Sodomy II trial of DSAI (Anwar Ibrahim) where three doctors spent three hours looking into the complainant's rectum - who claimed not to have defecated for two days to preserve the DNA evidence - but found his rectum empty, and yet the trial continues.

Not forgetting, the head of MACC prosecution team mimicking the action of strangling himself while cross-examining Dr Pornthip Rojanasunand during the Teoh inquest... and many, many more hilarious stories that defines 2010.

DUPLICITY
'Duplicity' for all the deceitful behaviour of our politicians. Examples are '1Malaysia, People First PM', 'Malay First' DPM, Ibrahim Ali the 'katak' king, 'katak' politicians, Bung Mokhtar Radin marrying his second wife without first getting permission, etc.

INSIDIOUS
This is the word that sums up the echoes of government conduct of the year, the sleight-of-hand moves and overt pinions of control. This is the insidiousness of how things are being moved to keep the rakyat underfoot, opposition silenced and to raise the elite upon pinnacles self-made.

Insidious it is and insidious it may be, the end-all and be-all of years of cumulative tyranny.

SHAME
Shame on the way the Parliament speaker rejected all motions submitted by Pakatan Rakyat MPs, shame on MACC lawyer's conduct in TBH's death inquiry, shame on MACC's inaction on private eye P Balasubramaniam's affidavits, MACC's silence over the revelation on Abdul Taib Mahmud's massive wealth.

Shame on four Pakatan MPs' suspension, shame on the conduct of the judge and Attorney-General's Chambers in Anwar's trial by denying all important documents to enable the accused to defend himself, and shame on old politicians marrying young wives.

COMMISSION
'Commission' because corruption is now defined legally as 'commissions' - the Election Commission advocates gerrymandering, several commissions of enquiries were set up to investigate wrongdoings, newly-acquired submarine failed to dive when commissioned, etc, etc...

HOPELESSNESS
Looking at the ways things are unfolding in this country, there is no longer any hope that we can make this country a great nation, one that the people deserve to have. Unless the majority of the Malaysians sees the need for a change and reversal of the slump we have fallen to, we cannot hope to take back our country. We need to change the direction of this country.

So many things have gone wrong in the country this year due to mismanagement and bad decisions that it is virtually hopeless. There is nothing to be proud of this year for many, with the exception of those who have gained in dubious and corrupt ways.

HOPE
'Hope' as we are all hoping for a better Malaysia with Pakatan Rakyat taking over Putrajaya. And even if BN retains power after GE13, the rakyat still hope that it would change for the better. GE13 gives us 'hope'.

MATURITY
Rising above all the good and the bad that is happening in Malaysia over the past two years and especially so in 2010 is a sense of 'maturity'.

The people of Malaysia, from the rhetorical politicians to the 'teh tarik' intellectuals, from the inspirational new young leaders to the unmasked extremists, from the silent moderates to the eloquent bloggers, have all openly offered their views and opinions without bloodshed.

Of course, there were some scuffles here and there, but really as a nation, I think we are on the path of attaining national maturity. Let's keep it up - 'it' being 'growing up'.

PLUNDERING
If there is one word that truly reflect Malaysia from the Dr Mahathir Mohamad era onwards, it is 'plundering'. Better still, the culture of the ruling regime since Mahathir should be called the "culture of plunder". There is no other way to put it.

Malaysia has been ruled by pirates over the past five decades. In fact, one of the worst pirates is none other than the chief minister of Sarawak. Of course, the rest are equally just as bad. But these are modern pirates, often with undergraduate degrees from Western universities.

Abdul Razak Baginda, clearly someone who was complicit in the C4 murder of the Mongolian woman, is a case in point. There is no justice in the world we live in. It's all about money.

FORGIVE
Those who have cheated, lied, stolen, raped, robbed, murdered and then denied it. Not only do they not know what they have done, they also have no clue who they really are - that they are ultimately part of the glorious and miraculous spectrum of life.

Those of us who know this realise that even the worst criminals are but our own shadow selves - and we must never fear our own shadows.

APCO
That should be the word of the year because so many misfortunes has happened because of it.
