Sarawak Native kids being classified as 'Melayu' creeping of Islamisation to minorities

KUCHING: Sarawak PKR chief Baru Bian has received complaints from native parents about their children being classified as Malays in their school report cards.

According to him, the children's “keturunan” (origin) were stated as “Melayu” instead of “Lain-Lain” (others) as practiced in the past.

“We were informed by one parent that the status cannot be changed (back) because it was already within the system and the education officer was not able to make the changes,” he said.

Sarawak PKR was also furnished with a copy of a letter inked by six concerned parents which was sent to the state teachers' union president seeking a clarification on the matter.

“We echo the concerns of these parents because it has great implications in the future,” said Baru.

“If the status is not clarified and maintained, it can be implied that a native person, once he or she is classified as a Malay in official school documents, is a Muslim by virtue of the definition of Article 160 (of the Federal Constitution),” he added.

Article 160 states that “a Malay means a person who professes the religion of Islam, habitually speaks the Malay language, conforms to Malay custom...”

Whereas, Article 161 on natives states that “in relation to Sarawak, a person who is a citizen and either belongs to one of the races specified in Clause (7) as indigenous to the state or is of mixed blood deriving exclusively from those races; and...”

“The races to be treated for the purposes of the definition of 'native' as indigenous to Sarawak are the Bukitans, Bisayahs, Dusuns, Sea Dayaks, Land Dayaks, Kadayans, Kalabit, Kayans, Kenyahs (Including Sabups and Sipengs), Kajangs (including Sekapans, Kejamans, Lahanans, Punans, Tanjongs and Kanowits), Lugats, Lisums, Malays, Melanos, Muruts, Penans, Sians, Tagals, Tabuns and Ukits.”

Meanwhile, Baru demanded that the Education Ministry launch an immediate investigation into the matter and provide an explanation.

“We are afraid that this may just be the tip of the iceberg and we would like to alert other native parents to check the status of their children before the matter becomes irreversible,” he said.

Union to raise it with ministry

When contacted, the president of Sarawak teachers' union, William Ghani Bina said he had taken up the issue to the state deputy director of education.

“And I am going to Kuala Lumpur and on Thursday, I will discuss it with the Director-General of Education,” he said.

“For you and I this is very bad. How can a Malay go to church? How can a Malay celebrate Christmas? How can a Malay celebrate Gawai?” he asked.

He added that these children and their families ate pork as well.

“How can they be of keturunan Melayu?”

He also noted that while the documents of the children indicated that they were 'Melayu', their birth certificates clearly showed that their parents were 'Christians' (see photos).

PKR hits bulleyes in Umno's Malay supremacy scam: 96% of poor are Malays

The ferocity of Umno’s counter attacks against PKR president Wan Azizah and her deputy Azmin Ali reflects the bull-eyes they scored when they slammed Umno for pushing racist policies in the guise of Malay supremacy so that they could continue to mask the massive corruption they were practising to rob the people of the country’s wealth.

“This country belongs to all Malaysians and there should not be two classes of citizens at all. Ketuanan Melayu has been used as a tool to nurture parasites amongst the Umno elite while completely ignoring the low-income Malays and Malaysians,” Gopeng MP Lee Boon Chye told Malaysia Chronicle.

Indeed, in stark contrast to the alleged hypocrisy of Prime Minister Najib Razak, who in his recent Umno annual congress address had urged Malays to arise and warned of “crushed bodies”, “lost lives” and “ethnic cleansing” if they lost political power, Azizah and Azmin had stood firm on racial equality where economic priority would be given based on needs and not the color of one’s skin.

At the PKR National Congress held over the weekend, Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim had also revealed that 96.7 percent of those living below the poverty line were Malays.

“Malay supremacy is a slogan used by a small group of Malay elites who are cheating the Malays as a whole for their own interests. After 53 years in power, the Malays and bumiputera are still neglected. The 30 percent Malay-bumiputera equity has yet to be met. Of the RM54 billion equity and shares for bumiputera, only RM2 billion still belong to them,” Azizah had said in her presidential address.

Pundits praised the PKR leaders for sticking to the principles that swept Pakatan to power in 2008 and for continuing to resist the easy race-championing and emoting methods adopted by Umno and its perceived agent Perkasa to rally voter support from the Malay community, which forms 55 percent of Malaysia's 28 million population.

In fact, so worried that the PKR stance might show up Najib’s perceived two-facedness, Umno and BN leaders have gone on overdrive using various routes in a bid to go one up on their arch rival.

On Monday, Perkasa youth chief Arman Azha called Azizah and Azmin “political prostitutes”, accusing them of being desperate for the non-Malay votes. He also tried to turn the issue to Umno’s advantage by suggesting that Malays should reject PKR for not championing their superiority.

“Has Dr Wan Azizah forgotten that it was because of Malay supremacy that she got to become a doctor? The PKR president is a political whore who is desperate for non-Malay votes that she refuses to explain the real meaning of the concept,” said Arman.

“And I heard PKR deputy president Azmin Ali too condemn Malay supremacy. He has forgotten that he is here today because of Umno. Does he want to become a political whore too?”

However in his haste to shine, and to an extent because of his political immaturity, his words boomeranged and put the spotlight back onto Umno, Najib and his cousin Hishammuddin Hussein.

In particular, it sparked laughter at Hishamuddin’s grandfather Onn Jaafar, who had parted ways with Umno because the nationalist party had refused to open up membership to the non-Malays.

"Onn Jaafar proposed that Umno open its doors to other races. Azizah and Azmin are doing what Onn had been propagating. So Perkasa might as well call Onn a prostitute as well,” Malaysiakini reported a commentator as saying.

MCA president Chua Soi Lek too rushed to get into the act, issuing a warning that Malaysians should not try to change the federal constitution. However, Pakatan leaders scoffed at him, pointing to their Common Policy Framework that already states that their coalition would defend the existing federal constitution.

“This again shows Soi Lek’s insincerity. He is first and foremost subservient to Umno and puts their interest first rather than those of all Malaysians especially the low-income Malays, Indians, Chinese, Kadazan-Dusun-Murut and others,” said Boon Chye.

RON97 to go up 15 sen from tomorrow: Sources

KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysia is to increase the price of the RON97 petrol blend by 15 sen to RM2.30 per litre from December 1, two sources familiar with the plans said.

A formal announcement will be made later today, one of the sources said.

Malaysia’s government earlier this year cut subsidies on the benchmark RON95 blend, although it baulked at the wide-ranging reforms recommended by a government thinktank, fearing a voter backlash.

The government does not subsidise RON97, which is a higher octane fuel compared to the RON95.

In October, the government said its subsidy spend would be RM24.9 billion in 2011 up from a planned RM23.7 billion in 2010.

Malaysian inflation edged up to 2.0 per cent year-on-year in October, and housing, water, electricity and fuel rose 1.4 per cent from a year ago. Those items account for 21.4 per cent of the CPI basket. – Reuters

Ketuanan Melayu: 'Political pimp' Arman Azha does not speak for the Malays

Arman the 'political pimp' does not speak for the Malays

The vacuous comments of Perkasa Youth chief Arman Azha Abu Hanifah, when insulting Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and Azmin Ali, just show how insecure and bigoted this self-proclaimed ‘superior’ person is.

How does Arman justify, excuse or even allow the brand of hatred that Perkasa preaches?

It goes without saying that Arman Azha, does not speak for the Malays.

It shouldn't be necessary to point out that using derogatory terms like ‘prostitutes’ and ‘traitors’ are highly offensive.

If Arman believes Wan Azizah and Azmin, to be prostitutes, then men like him can rightly be termed pimps.

In Arman’s case, he is benefiting and living off the warped and racist policies of a man who has effectively polarised Malaysia in the 22 years he ruled, as prime minister.

And just like a good political pimp, Arman uses techniques such as psychological intimidation, manipulation and physical force to get others to do as he says.

But Arman cannot claim to speak for the Malays. Someone who cannot, or will not have an intelligent discourse, but who prefers to be rude and belittling, cannot lay claim to be ‘superior’.

When will he accept that Malays do not need ‘ketuanan Melayu’ to be accomplished or to prosper?

By asserting that all Malays become successful only because ‘they are the by-products of ‘ketuanan Melayu’, takes away their self-respect and sense of pride. It renders all their hard-work and personal sacrifice as worthless. Belittling their efforts, as he has done, is reason enough for Malay disunity.

If anyone can be described as ‘kacang lupakan kulit’ and ‘Melayu mudah lupa’, then it is Arman who has forgotten what it is to be a Malaysian and that this nation is not populated by Malays alone.

Whenever, Arman suggests that people like Wan Azizah and other PKR leaders were educated only because of ketuanan Melayu, he repulses those Malays with the ability to think for themselves.

Only someone as arrogant as him would ‘urge’ the Rulers to banish any Malay who is against ketuanan Melayu. Our Rulers do not need inflammatory people to influence their judgment.

Malaysians are aware of the country’s history and they respect the federal constitution. But it appears that Perkasa and Arman prefer to dwell on the past and not move forward in time.

Right now, both Arman and Perkasa, are treated with contempt and ridicule. These will never change, until he learns that respect has to be earned and that he cannot insult with impunity.

These are hard lessons. But can he learn them?

Najib’s obsession with image and spin is failing Malaysia

When Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak unveiled the 1Malaysia programme, the ideology behind it was for the cabinet, government agencies and civil servants to promote ethnic harmony, national unity and efficient governance.

Little did we know that his ulterior motive was for BN to conspire to win the next general election (GE-13) by stealth.

Many were sceptical then and many remain sceptical today about the 1Malaysia soundbite.

The year after 1Malaysia was first introduced, Mahathir Mohammad was hazy about its concept.

Worse still, three months ago, the deputy PM Muhyiddin Yassin was equally in the dark about what 1Malaysia stood for.

Najib’s announcement that the 1Malaysia symbol is to be added to the BN logo, has revealed his long term scheming and tactical strategy to win GE-13 by deception.

In Malaysia, the campaign period which is permitted by law runs from the date of nomination until polling day. As expected, the ruling party will have been geared for elections at a much earlier date. This is their advantage.

Najib’ decision, to link the two logos, has shown BN’s underhand tactics.

Since its inception, the 1Malaysia logo has been linked to schemes such as the 1Malaysia milk for schools, the 1Malaysia foundation, the 1Malaysia Clinic, 1Malaysia Retirement Savings Scheme and 1Malaysia Computers.

Najib is aware that many are disillusioned with BN and its policies. There is a need to revamp its image with a new revised version of the BN logo.

Thus, the new look is a question of survival; his and the party’s.

However, BN is also aware that a majority of the rural and older voters do not know how to mark their ballot papers as they are so used to the BN logo.

Thus, by appending the 1Malaysia to the BN logo, it kills two birds with one stone.

Those who are familiar with the old BN logo and the fence sitters will be duped, by the 1Malaysia symbol, into thinking that BN espouses a policy of racial unity. This is where many realise the shallowness of the whole 1Malaysia concept.

We know that in a democracy, truthful information is crucial.

Najib has been promoting his 1Malaysia for two years and what started off as a ploy to unite the races has been turned into political spin.

Malaysians are divided but at the same time, they would love to believe in the 1Malaysia concept. Mahathir’s rule successfully eroded any ties forged since Merdeka.

What a shame then, if people were to vote for BN just because they were fooled by the 1Malaysia logo.

How much better it would have been if a party was voted in on the strength of its policies.

HRP ready to fight in heavyweight category to meet Pakatan Rakyat and Barisan National in next general.

Hindraf has become a legend for what it has been able to achieve – to show up the false rules and to take courageous action to hit at the ruling Government. Why has this happened? After 53 years the UMNO government keeps telling us that they are doing the best for all the communities on the one hand, yet we have this process of marginalization of Indians continuing unabated.

Indian lives are surrounded and smothered by UMNO and their Mandores. Hindraf started the brave action and started to educate the poor and marginalized about their rights. People start to think and agree. For this the leaders of Hindraf were detained under the draconic ISA law for 514 days. And exiled from the country.

The Indians then decided enough is enough and decided to throw out UMNO. Now the Indian poor and marginalized are very strong in mind and heart, and are not going to cooperate with UMNO anymore and are surely going to push them out from Putrajaya.

In the 2008 General Election Hindraf give life to a weak Malaysian opposition coalition, the PAKATAN RAKYAT. Pakatan leaders however, after getting all the Indian votes now do not want to solve the Indian problems permanently but keep busy creating new Mandores to prevent the poor Indians from asking about their rights. We are cheated again by Pakatan Rakyat.

Our leader released from ISA announces a new Indian party to keep fighting against UMNO. Pakatan Rakyat is not ready to accept our new political party in their march to Putrajaya. They want our leader to join their party and perform a Mandores’s job and they forgot that they are talking to a totally new kind of leader.

Pakatan Rakyat has 3 leaders Anwar Ibrahim and Hadi Awang for Malays and Lim kit Siang for Chinese, Where is the Indian leader for Indians…..? What is the so difficult for Pakatan Rakyat to accept our leader to talk on behalf of Indians. There are few question frequently asked by some from the Pakatan Rakyat stable.

1. Why does HRP always hit PR not BN?

We have already decided we are not going back to BN again, so why do we have to worry about their policies and positions and waste our energy with BN, I voted for PR to correct all the nonsense. I have all the right to correct PR. I hit to correct PR, if PR does not realize then they will not go any further than where they are now.

2. Why is HRP going to create three corner election fights – that will split the vote and give BN to win.

So if PR is worried about this, then don’t waste time. Let’s work together as a team and please do not expect us to come in as underlings, worse as Mandores. Let the 4 leaders sit together at one table ( DSAI, Hadi, Kit Siang and Uthaya ) and discuss to make a decision for every development issue.

3. I think Uthaya is planted by BN and sponsored by BN?

This is a every easy and self serving argument that you can use on anybody – including on Anwar Ibrahim. Uthaya is planted by Hindraf Makkal Sakti. Pakatan tries to create this nonsensical picture to bring HRP down. Sorry lah Pakatan, this is a Year 2010 not year 1974 ( Mahathir + Mandore politic ).

4. Malaysia only have 7% Indians, how they can win anything?

Win or lose is doesn’t matter to HRP. We can show the path for change and we will make people think and engage in the process of real change. We may be 7 % in numbers and a minority but we are a very vocal minority and in electoral politics that can make for a lot of difference.

5. Why is Pakatan Rakyat worried about HRP?

We can shake the 53 years old BN government. Pakatan Rakyat is just 3 years old, so is nothing for HRP. They know well, even if HRP cannot win any seats in the coming general election they can still destroy PKR Anwar Ibrahim’s desire to become the next Prime minister.

6. HRP is a racist party?

Please do not condition your mind with your suggestion in the question. The answer is that most of the victims of basic human rights are Indians. Nobody really lifts a finger to help them. So who is going to help them? You think people from Thailand or Singapore. So we form a party to take care of our rights – you see anything wrong with that.

7. Why Indians have so many political parties?

This is a picture that BN and PR want to create to throw up a picture of disarray among the Indians. The fact of the matter is that most of those parties are nothing more than a bunch of greedy Mandores and few of their cronies. Useful for propaganda.

Pakatan Rakyat, start to think about your political position. Do not underestimate the influence of HRP and other minority groups? What you have to do is to accommodate the minority groups’ aspirations. Do not be penny wise and pound foolish!

'Did my son beg for mercy before being shot?'

(Malaysiakini) There is nothing that she wants more than to see the person who killed her child be hauled up to court to face justice.
NONEBut for now, Norhafizah Mad Razali (left in pix) just cannot help thinking of her son's last moments before he was shot dead by police.
"I keep thinking what he was thinking, how he felt before the fatal shot. Did he plead for mercy? Was he crying in pain?" she said in tears, while her husband, Shapiei Zainal Abidin who in spite of his own wet eyes tried to offer comfort.
Their son, Mohd Shamil Hafiz Shapiei, was shot dead about 4am on Nov 13 on a street in Glenmarie in Shah Alam, Selangor. He was about a week away from turning 16.
He was shot once in the chest and in the middle of his forehead, an image which will not leave his parents' minds.
"Call it a mother's instinct...I don't know how or why, but the words just slipped out of my mouth when I saw his body: 'He has been murdered'," she said when met at the low-cost flat where they live in Kota Damansara.
NONEThe police have claimed they fired in self-defence, as Mohd Shamil and two others - Mohd Hanafi Omar (right), 22 and Hairul Nizam Tuah, 20, said to be from Cheras - had allegedly charged at police with machetes after attempting to rob a petrol station.
All three sustained similar gunshots to the chest and head, with Hairul Nizam also shot at the side of his head while Mohd Hanafi was shot at the top of his head.
All the bullets passed through the bodies, with exit wounds on Hairul Nizam's body at a lower part of his head and torso compared to the entry wound.
Headlines immediately after the incident screamed 'Teen Terrorist', with reports quoting the police as saying that Mohd Shamil was a seasoned criminal and a ringleader of Geng Minyak- a gang that had been targeting petrol stations across the Klang Valley.
If the manner in which the youths were shot dead was not enough to raise their suspicion, it was the police statements which have steeled the families' resolve to get more answers.

"I kept thinking of the way he was shot. The trajectory of the bullet (evident from the wounds) makes it seem like he was shot from a higher point. Did the police climb a tree to shoot him?
"My brother was afraid of the police and refused to drive if he didn't have his driver's licence on him because he was afraid of getting caught. How could he have charged at police with a machete?
“And where is this machete? I want to see it. We have not been shown anything that was found on (the deceased) and the police kept asking us what colour his helmet is, but he left his helmet at the cyber cafe."
Fourth person involved?
The helmet and the keys to the Hairul Nizam's motorcycle had been passed to Norliza on the morning of Nov 13 by his friends who had waited for him to return to the nearby cyber cafe where they were.
NONEThe friends told her that Hairul Nizam and Mohd Hanafi were there at 3.30am that day when someone in a Proton Waja - she does not know who - stopped by the cyber cafe and invited them out for supper.
"(Hairul Nizam) asked his friends to wait for him and said he would be back in a short while. They waited until morning but he never came back," she said.
The last time Norhafizah saw her son was at around 2.30am, when he came to the tomyam stall which she operates next to the flats.
"He always hung around with other youths who live here and played checkers. His father saw him at around 3am," she said.
Although only 15, Mohd Hafiz had much time on his hands as he was no longer attending school, having dropped out of Tahfiz (religious) school last year.
Norhafizah said he was not academically inclined and that he had asked her to search for a place for him to take up vocational training.
The teen's absence was noticed early in the morning as he has not returned home - something he had never done before.
"His sister was receiving an award for academic excellence (on Nov 13) and he told me he wanted to go to the ceremony. I called him several times but his phone was turned off," she said.
No drugs or alcohol found
Answers, albeit vague, were found in the morgue of Tuanku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital, where forensic pathologist Khairul Azman Ibrahim informed them of their worst nightmare.
"We asked the police officer who was there to tell us more but he only said that he was not at the scene of the incident. No one could answer us properly," said Norliza.
But what they did find out was that none of the youths were under the influence of drugs or alcohol when they died, leaving question marks over why they would charge at armed officers with machetes.
Just like azlanslain teen Aminulrasyid Amzah's (right) family, who had in vain sought an apology from the police for labelling the 14-year-old a criminal, these families too cannot fathom that the youths were involved in criminal activity.
Also on their minds is the identity of the mysterious fourth person in the Proton Waja, in which police said the youths had sped off.
“That is for the police to find out, I don't want to speculate. I just want justice for my son, for my children,” Norhaliza said.
Her second son has been taunted by his peers who have been telling him that his brother was a criminal, while her four-year-old is now asking his parents to buy him a gun.
“The little one keeps asking us where his brother is, and when we don't answer he says, 'He is dead, shot by police...police are bad',” she said.
More than clearing the name of their loved one, Hairul Nizam's family also wants this to be the case that changes the way police conduct operations.
“Someone has been charged in the Aminulrasyid case…(but) there is still something wrong with the system in which the police operate.If this could happen to our family, it could happen to another family too.
NONE“Maybe the real Geng Minyak is still out there and my brother was the scapegoat,” Norliza (left in pix) said.
The family has since filed a police report about their suspicion over the shooting.
An emergency motion on the issue, which Sivarasa attempted to raise in Parliament on Thursday, was rejected.
Mohd Hanafi's family filed a similar police report today.
Senior Shah Alam police officers could not be contacted for a response.

Perkasa Youth chief Arman Azha Abu Hanifah today described PKR leaders, calling Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail a “political prostitute”

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 29 — PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution claimed today that Perkasa’s open attack against the party’s president was “not surprising,” and that PKR had been expecting a “volatile” response from Perkasa.

Perkasa Youth chief Arman Azha Abu Hanifah today described PKR leaders as desperate for non-Malay votes, calling Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail a “political prostitute” for rejecting the concept of Malay supremacy.

He also likened Dr Wan Azizah’s remarks to an attack on the constitutional position of the Malays.

“This was something that we needed to make a bold stand on. The party’s principles on this remains clear. We will not compromise on this issue.

“In fact, we had expected Perkasa to come out with such remarks, we have been bracing ourselves for this. Over the weekend, much preparation was put into the speeches condemning the idea of Malay supremacy. And our view on this has not changed,” Saifuddin (picture) told The Malaysian Insider.

The Machang MP said PKR was in the process of drafting an official reply to Perkasa’s remarks, which would be done this week.

Besides Dr Wan Azizah, newly-minted PKR deputy president Azmin Ali had also during the PKR congress ridiculed Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s 1 Malaysia concept, accusing Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) of continuing to condone racist policies in its administration.

“If we want our country and people to march forward then we must ensure the end of racist policies brought by Umno and BN. The national agenda should be based on needs not on race. This is very important.

“We must not be defensive when we want to reject the concept of Malay supremacy. Even though the media have relentlessly attacked us that we are traitors because we want to reject Malay supremacy but I want to proclaim today that we will reject Malay supremacy. We will carry people power to become the basis of the party’s struggle,” he had said.

The Federal Constitution lists down the special position of the Malays and other Bumiputeras, but there is no mention of Malay supremacy, a rallying cry popularised by Umno since the early 1980s.

Similarly, Dr Wan Azizah described Malay supremacy as a slogan used by a small group of Malay elites to cheat others.

She also called on the Malay community to become a dignified race and not to be obsessed with being a “master”.

In response, Arman accused Dr Wan Azizah today of having failed to understand the history and context of constitutional provisions that accord the Malays with what he said were special privileges.

He also claimed Dr Wan Azizah’s criticism against Malay rights was a rejection of the Malay Rulers’ sovereignty.

In reply to this, Saifuddin said Perkasa failed to understand the distinction between “Melayu bermaruah” (Malays with dignity)and “ketuanan Melayu”.

“The concept of Malay supremacy was a term created by the elite class in the past which excluded Malays in the bottom part of the social income group.

“Melayu bermaruah” means ensuring that Malays in this country had the means in which to live, eat, work to contribute to the country.

“If you look at figures, you’ll find that majority with household income below RM1,500 are Malays. So why talk about Malay supremacy when the needs of many poor Malays have yet to be met? The country has to go on a needs basis, those who need help will receive help,” Saifuddin said.

Another PKR MP, Yusmadi Yusoff, said the party’s rejection of the idea of Malay supremacy was merely a “re-emphasis” of what was already enshrined in the Federal Constitution.

“We believe that the rights of all citizens can only be safeguarded and protected by going back to the spirit of the constitution. With enforcing the idea of Malay supremacy, this would be a direct contradiction of the promise listed by the constitution,” Yusmadi told The Malaysian Insider.

P. Uthayakumar’s “ethnic cleansing” Sedition case. Biased Judge again refused to adjourn case pending High Court hearing to declare Sedition Act Ultra virus Article 4 of Federal Constitution.


Proceedings began at 9.00 a.m before Judge Sabaraiah Osman, N. Surendran appeared for P. Uthayakumar. DPP Noorin Badaruddin and two other DPP’s appeared for the prosecution.

P.Uthayakumar continued cross examining DCP Acryl Sani bin Abdullah Sani after N. Surendran’s application for an adjournment pending the High Court appeal was turned down by the biased Judge.

DCP Acryl Sani testified:-

1) That from 2000 to February 2010, 147 police detainees had died(were killed) in police custody.

2) The Indian detainees names revealed were all between in the ages 22 to 45.

3) Almost all suffering from head injuries.

The document tendered by DCP Acryl Sani bin Abdullah Sani had a discrepancy in that for the death in police custody cases only 13 names were listed out when the list stated 28. So where is the unaccountable balance 15 names in the official police documents.

P. Uthayakumar suggested that many more names were left out to constitute about 60% of the victims of death in police custody and shot dead by police being Malaysian Indians.

As for the shooting to death cases the Indians were listed as 27 but he could only name 23 according to his official police list submitted in Court.

The joke is this police DCP stated that Ngu Huat Leong and Khoo Ghee Kian who were shot dead in Buntong, Miri were Indians.

When has there been Indian criminals with Chinese names in Luntong, Miri, Sarawak. This only goes to prove that the police Raja Di Malay-sia have been getting away with murder for many many years.

P. Uthayakumar told the police DCP to come back with the real and unadulterated figures tomorrow morning. This case started at 9.00 a.m and dragged on right up to 5.00p.m with a lunch break. The biased Judge again threw out a few of P. Uthayakumar’s applications including his lawyer’s application as above.

This matter is adjourned to 9.00 a.m on 30/11/10 for tendering of the IGSO which empowers the Polis Raja Di Malay-sia to shoot and murder innocent citizens before being found guilty in a Court of law and in direct contravention of Article 5(1) of the Federal Constitution which guarantees the right to life.

This biased Judge ruled that the internal police house rules to murder Malaysians is above the Federal Constitution which is the supreme law of Malaysia according to Article 4 (1) of the Federal Constitution.

Earlier during cross examination DCP Acyrl Sani bin Abdullah Sani, the Federal CID Deputy Director I at Bukit Aman testified that the Indian population is 15%. This proves that UMNO has scaled down the Indian population statistics by 50% to a mere 7.5% to maintain and sustain their Malay muslim supremacy and hegemony.

But now the cat is out of the bag and many more truths will surface from this malicious and vindictive trial of P. Uthayakumar under the obsolete, unlawful and unconstitutional Sedition prosecution.(including as reported in Malaysiakini.com today)

Makkal sakthi or what not, Indians will not be fooled

It was the 'makkal sakthi' awakening and the civil society's overwhelming contribution that made March 08 a reality for Pakatan. Not denying their efforts but the win was definitely to their disbelief.

The later events of Hindraf's destruction to pieces were sheer disappointment or rather a stab in back for the Indians. Since the Pakatan take over it's been a tussle between the two sides of political arena, in an area of limited Indian issues hence forgetting or simply evading the many issues that Hindraf had once put forward.

British masters used the different peoples of Malaya for different purpose, some collaborated with them to pave their way into the heartland of Malaya, some simply wanted them in for their changing lifestyle; yes, money was the game even then.

However for most Indians it was pure indented labour for the British to reap the benefits of the land, denying the fact that Indians helped create the most important commodity for the future Malaysia's success and survival.

British masters always had someone doing the dirty job for them; as for the Indians they had a small group of Indians to control the bigger. Somehow the Indians from those days were appeased simply by the protection of the Tamil language and ironically toddy shops!.

However Indians did find a brief taste of freedom in new Malaya or Malaysia, however though it seemed like they were relieved of the oppression of the estates they were actually displaced to urban slums.

Struggling Indians found their success even then as education was by merit and there were government jobs. Like slumdog millionaires (the movie) it was survival of the fittest and the luckiest.

Futhermore they did well in education and managed to climb up the economic ladder. For all these hopes they always fell back to their religion and ancestral respect by maintaining the many places of worship that had given their ancestors courage during the time when the British masters forced them to clear the jungle to create townships.

Till today most others have been reaping the benefits of Malaysia's economic wealth without a single thought or sense of gratitude for this historic Indian contribution to nation building. Indians and the rest of the other communities found and maintained good friendships along the way and they were together in the politics of this country.

The free will was however short lived as the British master's cancer started creeping into the soul of the politicians. Indians needed to be marginalised, again with small group Indians doing the dirty job of their masters or simply closing one eye towards the calculated and slow measures that brought about marginalisation while camouflaging with it with the Tamil agenda; not to mention also the protection of toddy shops and further helped by samsu haram and “not haram”.

Unlike their British masters this new breed of masters found the other area Indians could be manipulated or distracted while they continuously marginalised them. Yes, religion and the place of worship that even the cruel British displayed some sensitivity in handling, which for the new masters and their subordinates has been the greatest playing field.

They plan the destruction and they come to save them in the nick of time, the sentiment which for common Indians will bring them down to their knees…. These deceitful tactics have been like a political mantra to all future politicians, while the Indians started losing their government jobs, their chance for higher education, their oppression in many ways in business ventures, leaving only a handful that managed. And the Indians slowly lost whole lots of other things that Hindraf has pointed out

Then the makkal sakthi awakening of 2008…then what changed after that?

The cancer spread into 'makkal sakthi' with similar modus operandi; the shattered movement has killed the enthusiasm of the majority Indians and they are slowly falling prey again to their political masters.

Now the gullible politicians on both ends are working on the same module that has ruled over the Indians for decades. Yes, back to issues of Tamil schools, temples and nobody give a damn about minority protection.

Oh God!!! Politics will change the man and not otherwise; this is strongly proven in the Malaysian scenario. And now there is a 'third force' hovering over the horizon……is there yet hope for Indians in Malaysia?

Will the politician ever walk the talk? Will there be a ministerial post specifically for minority protection and sensitive issues? Will any right minded politician take the lead? If there is, then it's time again for the majority Indians to awaken and to make a point, “DON'T TAKE INDIANS FOR A RIDE” no matter what you call yourselves. We know!!!!

‘Ketuanan Melayu’ not in Constitution, says Prof Khoo

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 30 — The terminology “Ketuanan Melayu” or Malay Supremacy need not be debated because it does not exist in the country’s constitution, said history expert, Prof Emeritus Tan Sri Dr Khoo Kay Kim.

He said that from the historical aspect, only the Rulers’ Supremacy was stated in the constitution where the people must show their loyalty to the Rulers.

“In the past, ‘Malay Supremacy’ was never mentioned within the Malay community. In history, such things are incorrect. What is stated in the Constitution is only the Rulers’ Supremacy, where you show loyalty to the state where you reside in.

“The Malays obtained the special privileges because they are the subjects of the Ruler. The position of the Malays is given special consideration and need not be disputed,” he said when contacted by Bernama, here tonight.

He was asked to comment on the statement by Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail on the Malay Supremacy in her policy speech at the 7th National Congress of the party on Sunday.

Dr Wan Azizah called for the abolition of the concept of Malay Supremacy to enable Malaysian children to grown up with the vision of a ‘race of integrity’ or ‘Malay of Integrity’.

Khoo said the terminology ‘Malay Supremacy’ was only raised by politicians purely for political purposes, and he observed that politicians were now frequently raising issues that could lead to racial confrontations.

“Politicians should focus on their services to the public, helping the people. They should not encourage the people to quarrel,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Director of the Institute of Ethnic Studies, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Prof Datuk Dr Shamsul Amri Baharuddin shared Khoo’s opinion that the term Malay Supremacy was coined by politicians in portraying the political and economic position of the Malays.

Questioning Dr Wan Azizah’s motive in raising the issue, he said the statement by the wife of PKR de facto leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, was merely a political gimmick and purely to cover up the crisis faced by the party currently.

“I don’t know why the issue was raised. What I notice is “Anwar’s Supremacy” in the PKR. It is Anwar’s Supremacy that must be abolished. The Malay Supremacy is merely to demolish Anwar’s Supremacy. In my opinion, the concept (Malay Supremacy) does not exist,” he said.

He said Dr Wan Azizah should re-examine what was meant by the term supremacy and should not question the special privileges of the Malays which had been enshrined ever since the era of the Malay Sultanate.

Shamsul Amri said that looking from the economic aspect, the Chinese community dominated 70 per cent of the economy while the Malays had only 30 per cent and there was no such thing as the Malays dominating in all aspects.

“If we look at it, the 70 per cent should be the supreme group. So, what does the Malay Supremacy show? What does supremacy mean? She (Dr Wan Azizah) herself is not clear on the meaning of supremacy,” he said.

Dr Shamsul Amri said politicians should be thinking about issues that were relevant for discussion instead of raising issues that could bring about negative developments between the races.

Institutional Racism in Malaysia

Each time we read and hear or see how the Umno inspired racists, whether they are Umno leaders, civil servants, Umno-friendly Muslim Clerics, Umno owned mainstream media or Umno inspired Malay NGO's utter racist remarks against non Malays or non Muslims, the eunuch leaders of the non Malay / non Muslim BN Component parties are sickeningly silent. Even Hindraf, stays silent rather choosing to fire salvos at Pakatan Rakyat.

What's worrying is that the silence of the non Malays and non Muslims over the Institutional Racism practiced by the BN/Umno Regime only legitimizes the Ketuanan Melayu Agenda of Umno. When PERKASA, Ridhuan Tee Abdullah, Perak Mufti Harussani Zakaria or any other Malay Muslim bigot speaks and acts, you can be sure that it is Umno that is actually speaking and acting. BN/Umno is indeed two faced and is supported by their Eunuch's such as MCA, MIC, GERAKAN, PPP, SUPP, PBS, PBB etc.. to hoodwink the non Malays and non Muslims to continue supporting BN/Umno.

Institutional racism is the differential access to the goods, services, and opportunities of society. When the differential access becomes integral to institutions, it becomes common practice, making it difficult to rectify. Eventually, this racism dominates public bodies, private corporations, and public and private universities, and is reinforced by the actions of conformists and newcomers. Another difficulty in reducing institutionalized racism is that there is no sole, true identifiable perpetrator. When racism is built into the institution, it appears as the collective action of the population.

Professor James M. Jones postulates three major types of racism: (i) Personally-mediated, (ii) internalized, and (iii) institutionalized.[1] Personally-mediated racism includes the specific social attitudes inherent to racially-prejudiced action (the bigot’s differential assumptions about abilities, motives, and the intentions of others according to), discrimination (the differential actions and behaviours towards others according to their race), stereotyping, commission, and omission (disrespect, suspicion, devaluation, and dehumanization). Internalized racism is the acceptance, by members of the racially-stigmatized people, of negative perceptions about their own abilities and intrinsic worth, characterized by low self-esteem, and low esteem of others like them. This racism is manifested through embracing “whiteness” (e.g. stratification by skin colour in non-white communities), self-devaluation (e.g. racial slurs, nicknames, rejection of ancestral culture, etc.), and resignation, helplessness, and hopelessness (e.g. dropping out of school, failing to vote, engaging in health-risk practices, etc.).

Persistent negative stereotypes fuel institutional racism, and very much matter because they influence interpersonal relations. Racial stereotyping contributes to patterns of racial residential segregation, and shape the views of white people about crime, crime policy, and welfare policy, especially if the contextual information is stereotype-consistent. A great percentage of white Americans rate Black Americans and Latino Americans as less intelligent, preferring to live from welfare benefits rather than work, and “more difficult to get along with socially”.

Institutional racism is distinguished from the racial bigotry, by the existence of institutional systemic policies and practices meant to place non-white racial and ethnic groups at a disadvantage in relation to the institution’s white members. Restrictive housing contracts (see restrictive covenants) and bank lending policies (see redlining) have been forms of institutional racism. The gross under-representation and often white washing of Hispanic and Asian males in mass media is another effective form of institutional racism. Other examples are racial profiling by security guards and police, use of stereotyped racial caricatures (e.g. "Indian" sport mascots), the under- and mis-representation of certain racial groups in the mass media, and race-based barriers to gainful employment and professional advancement. Additionally, the differential access to goods, services, and opportunities of society are defined within the term institutional racism, such as unpaved streets and roads, inherited socio-economic disadvantage, “standardized” tests (each ethnic group prepared for it differently; many are poorly prepared), et cetera.

Some sociologic investigators distinguish between institutional racism and structural racism. The former focus upon the norms and practices within an institution, the latter focus upon the interactions among institutions, interactions that produce racialized outcomes against non-white people. An important feature of structural racism (structured racialization) is that it cannot be reduced to individual prejudice or to the single function of an institution. Like-wise, it is important to note that once a structure is emplaced, its consequences likely will affect the entire population — not just the racially discriminated people. Structural racialization also underscores many of the institutional arrangements that are often identified as “American exceptionalism” — such as the non-existence of a labor party, weak labor unions, and a fragmented government system. Structural racialization borrows from system theory, which examines the interactions among institutions and entities and rejects reductionist thought; thus, there is a mutual, cumulative causation instead of a single cause. Using the system's approach for structural racialization calls into question whether or not race or social class is more important in the US. Instead, it suggests an interaction, between race and social class, and their consequences upon institutional design and institutional meaning.

Ketuanan Melayu (Malay supremacy and Malay dominance in Malay) is the claim that the Malay people are the tuan (masters) of Malaysia. The Malaysian Chinese and Indian-Malaysians — who are significant ethnic minorities in Malaysia — are considered beholden to the Malays for granting them citizenship in return for special privileges, as established in Article 153 of the Constitution of Malaysia. This quid pro quo arrangement usually is referred to as the Malaysian social contract. The ketuanan Melayu concept usually is used by politicians of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), the most influential Malaysian political party.

Although the ketuanan Melayu idea pre-dates Malaysian independence, the phrase ketuanan Melayu did not come into vogue until the early 2000s. The most vocal opposition to that is from non-Malay-based parties, such as the Malaysian People's Movement Party (Gerakan) and Democratic Action Party (DAP); although pre-independence, the Straits Chinese also agitated against ketuanan Melayu. The idea of Malay supremacy gained political weight in the 1940s, when the Malays organized to protest the Malayan Union's establishment, from which they later fought for independence. During the 1960s, there was a substantial political effort challenging ketuanan Melayu led by the People's Action Party (PAP) of Singapore — which was a Malaysian state from 1963 to 1965 — and the DAP, after Singapore's secession, however, the Constitutional articles related to ketuanan Melayu were “entrenched" after the racial riots of 13 May 1969, consequent to an election campaign focused on the rights of non-Malay people and the ketuanan Melayu matter. From that arose the "ultras", advocating a one-party government led by UMNO, and increased racist emphasis that the Malays are the "definitive people" of Malaysia — i.e. only a Malay could be a true Malaysian.

DAP Perak welcomes Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim' statement that should Pakatan Rakyat suceeded in the next General Election, DAP Parliamentary Leader, Sdr Lim Kit Siang will be appointed as Deputy Prime Minister.

The move is perceived as a breakthrough to smash the racial politics dominated by UMNO, MCA and MIC. It will also send a strong message to the World that all races and each citizen in Malaysia will be given due recognition for their hard work, sacrifices and preseverence and all are encouraged to strive for excellence.

No one will be discriminated by the colour of their skin and regardless of creed, all Malaysians finally have a chance to become one family, equal under the Malaysian sun.

也是太平区国会议员的倪可敏说,民联推举华人出任副首相传达了建立公正平等国度的宏愿,它传达了只要肯努力,人人都有出头天的重要讯息,这对华社是关键的一点。他表示,美国因吸引全球人才成为全球第一强国,但美国也用了两百年才迎来第一位黑人总统,关键不是膚色,主要是人才的能力、政绩及表现,这才符合国家利益。

On 28 November 2010 at 10.00am another history had made at Perai HRP office by conduct a Northern HRP workshop. The instructor was National HRP Hindraf Advisor N.Ganesan and total 30 HRP members from Penang, Kedah and Perak attend the workshop. The event gets started with Mr. Ganesan slide presentation about HRP protocol and Project 15/38. Following by state group discussion and planning for 3 month activities. We decided to have such workshop, every month in various states at northern region. Special thank to our advisor Mr.Naragan for spending is value able weekend time with us.
