Bersih rally: PAS promises 100,000 supporters

PAS promises to bring 100,000 supporters for the rally, which is scheduled to be held on July 9.

KUALA LUMPUR: PAS has pledged its support and 100,000 supporters for the polls watchdog Bersih 2.0′s rally, dubbed the “Walk for Democracy.”

This was announced by PAS central committee member Mohamad Sabu and Kuala Krai MP Dr Hatta Ramli at a press conference here this afternoon.

“We will mobilise 100,000 members and supporters from PAS alone,” said Sabu who is eyeing the party’s number two post.

He revealed that the rally would be held on July 9 at 2 pm in Kuala Lumpur.

Asked on the motive behind the rally, Hatta said the government had not agreed to the demands made in the first rally four years ago.

“The Election Commission is trying to curb us. The government also doesn’t know how to differentiate whether an action constitutes bribery,” he added.

In 2007, Bersih, which is made up of more than 60 NGOs, demanded for the use of indelible ink, registered voters roll clean-up, abolition of postal votes and access to the government-controlled print and broadcast media for opposition parties.

This time around, the Bersih 2.0 rally would see an addition of two more demands.

One was to end the misuse of government machinery as seen during the various by-elections and the recently concluded Sarawak state election.

“People get confused on whether the programmes are coming from political parties or the government,” said Sabu.

The second demand concerned the use of certain laws such as the Official Secrets Act and Internal Security Act for electoral advantage.

Election Commission has been conducting UNFAIR elections.
Unfair election can lead to dissatisfaction & feeling cheated. This will lead to protests, unrest and violence leading to loss of lives, properties.

Fighting for power is the major cause for riots & civil war.
Therefore it is so important to conduct fair & free elections.

EC cannot say it follows the Rules of the Election because the Rules are UNFAIR in the first place.
Is it against the law to delineate FAIRLY ? Like each State seat has about 10,000 voters!!!
NGOs like BERSIH have the right to call for Fair Elections as this will PREVENT ugly events.
President Obama said it is so important to conduct FAIR, FREE and CREDIBLE Elections.

In the Sarawak Election, there are State 71 seats
N10 has 4 times the number of voters than N37.
Muslim Melanau the smallest group has 27 Melanau major seats.
Iban biggest group has 21 Iban majority seats
Chinese, 2nd biggest group has only 13 majority seats half of Muslim Melanau!!!
BN got 54.5% of votes & 77% seats.
PR got 45.5% votes & 23% seats.
There is mal-proportion of seats & gerrymandering.

Assemblyman of big seat can't provide good service compared to a smaller one.

In Sabah in 1999, Election Commission re-delineated constituencies to INCREASE Muslim seats from 18 to 24 seats; reduce Christian majority seats from 18 to 12 and reduce Chinese majority seats from 7 to 4. (STAR)
As a result N1 got 7650 voters and N13 got 25976.
This a form of CHEATING.
This is discrimination against other religions, race & basic human rights.
App Mahathir instructed EC to do this.

Usually a few State seats make up 1Parliament seat.
In Selangor there are 17 State seats with more voters than the smallest Parliament seat!

There is also the overlap of service.

We have 222 Parliament seats.
Hence you need to win 112 seats to form a simple majority.
Take 112 seats with the least voters & you get 34% of the votes to win & form the govt.
This is undesirable. You need a minimum of 50% votes.

There are other factors like
1. Postal votes/dead voters etc
2. Buying votes with money & items
3. Limit election fund
4. Intimidation/threats of violence
5. Access to media
6. Access to voters
7. Adequate time to campaign

Mahathir said in 1999,
"There will be racial riots, if UMNO led BN does not win by 2 thirds majority."

Mahathir is an irresponsible, uncouth, unethical Prime Minister
Husin Ali said Mahathir talked like a gangster !!!
Mahathir would have been disqualified from the election by EC.

EC must be independent & answerable only to Parliament.
EC must be non-partisan.
You cannot be playing the game and setting the rules.
Don’t cheat. It is against your religion and ethics.
If politicians can cheat in Elections, they will cheat the people & Nation when they are in power.

Win like a Gentleman & lose like a Gentleman in a FAIR ELECTION.
Why is the EC NOT keen to conduct a Fair & Free & Credible Election & accept good suggestions?

Japanese said politicians are CROOKS & GANGSTERS in a poll.
But one thing good is that Japanese Ministers will apologise & resign if they commit a mistake or say something offensive.
This is political maturity

From feedback, Najib got 50 : 50% chance of winning the next General Election.
People want a Change & 2 Party System to have good Check and Balance.
People are tired of the Corrupt ways of our Arrogant politicians and their cover-ups.

If you control the Judges, Police, AG, Election Commission, MACC etc, you will be immuned from prosecution & judgement and sentence.
Happy Campaigning. Have Fun.

May God Bless Malaysia.
