Will there be racial unity to break BN’s stranglehold of power in the coming 13th General Election?

In Malaysia, there is a need for all races to unite in order to vote out Barisan Nasional (BN) which been ruling the country for more than 54 years. BN is all powerful and controls all of the nation’s national institutions just as Sauron is all-powerful in his control of Middle-Earth.

The Opposition, Pakatan Rakyat (PR) is akin to the motley crew in the Fellowship Of The Ring, a very small group for the force of good fighting against the mighty machinery of the evil Sauron who has a vast army and countless minions to do his bidding. See the similarity with BN here?

Therefore in the coming 13th General Election, it is a battle between the force of good and the force of evil. Simple as that. And the most important factor of all is racial unity. A great example of the importance of racial unity or the lack of it, rather, was in the 10th General Election in 1999 wherein many Malays were against BN but the Chinese and Indians gave their backing to BN.

However, it was the opposite in the 12th General Election in 2008 although there were some Malays who also voted for the Opposition. Still, they were not that many. This simply goes to show that without racial unity, BN will forever be entrenched in power.

Of course the Sabahans and Sarawakians always vote for BN and this is due to the lack of access to the alternative media besides being trapped economically.

All said and done, BN has managed to capitalise well on the divide-and-rule policy. This is in no small part due to the gullible citizens who since time in memorial has failed to see through BN’s scheming ways – evil is always extremely cunning.

This means that Malaysia will never be a matured democracy as it will be the same ruling government from the beginning to the end of time.

Be that as it may, although it may seem like an uphill battle for the Opposition to form the Federal Government, there is an urgent need for a strong Opposition to maintain check and balance and to lend support to the citizens who want to voice out their grievances.

But what happens is that the Federal Government which is the BN coalition does not respect democracy. They are stranggling the PR MPs by denying them the RM1.5 million rightful allocation for the wellbeing of the PR-held constituencies. This is evil as it shows that the Federal Government does not respect the people’s choice.

Therefore the citizens must unite to cast out evil. But sad to say, many of the rakyat are still living in apathy or deluded by the seductive promises of BN. Evil is always full of deceit and trickery – the only way not to be tricked is to shut off one’s ears to what BN is saying. An evil government always lie to the citizens. In all the Holy Books, we are adviced not to have anything to do with evil.

BN always promise something new just before elections because they know that the citizens are easily duped. This then is the greatest weakness of the people which BN capitalises well to full advantage.

Back to racial unity. All races must put aside their differences to work together for the common good. Just as in Middle-Earth, the dwarves were sworn enemies of the elves while the hobbits were suspicious of men but everyone got together to do battle against Sauron.

Everyone wants a share of the economic pie and their community’s interests to be attended to. This is only natural and the first step towards this is to get rid of BN once and for all. Then we can proceed to get things done.

Will there be racial unity to break BN’s stranglehold of power in the coming 13th General Election? Or perhaps the racial unity of Lord Of The Rings exists only in fiction?
