July 29, 2012
KUALA LUMPUR, July 29 — Senior Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin tonight stressed that he had quit his positions within the ruling coalition for the people’s sake.

He was speaking during the launch of his new Pakatan Rakyat (PR)-friendly political movement, the Pakatan Perubahan Sabah (PPS), which will contest 17 parliamentary seats in Sabah.

Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also spoke at the launch in Beaufort which was attended by “about 4,000 to 5,000” people, PKR’s Chua Tian Chang told The Malaysian Insider.

Lajim had yesterday resigned as Umno supreme council member, Beaufort Umno division chief and Beaufort BN chairman, but stopped short of quitting Umno and his post as deputy minister of housing and local government.
