Waytha’s homecoming must surely strengthen the cause of ABU

In December, last year, at the ABU launch, HINDRAF’s Sambulingam was on hand to announce that HINDRAF would work shoulder to shoulder with the rest of us in ABU to bury UMNO / BN at the next polls.

Many were surprised at HINDRAF’s move to join us in this Anything But UMNO effort.

I was not, but was, nonetheless, extremely pleased.

A little over a year before that, Waythamoorthy and I met in London.

I had the pleasure of savouring Moorthy’s cooking and I can confirm that this man can cook a mean curry.
Our discussions turned on what was needed to end the plight of all marginalised Malaysians and, in this regard, both Moorthy and I were of like mind.

The reign of plunder by UMNO and BN had to be put to an end, and soon.

We agreed that, with that end in mind, we would continue to keep in touch and to continue with our discussions.

Hence, I saw HINDRAF’s entry into the ABU initiative as a logical progression of those discussions in London.

A few days ago, after enduring 1 1/2 hours of driving through the after office hours traffic, I caught up with Moorthy in Bangsar for a teh tarik and a quick catch up on everything that was going on in the country.
Inevitably, our discussion turned to that which had taken up most of our time in London.
Ending the marginalisation of so many Malaysians.

And kicking UMNO /BN out of Putrajaya come the 13th GE.

I brought one other matter that is now very close to my heart.

Doing justice by our brothers and sisters in Sabah and Sarawak in the matter of the 18 / 20 point agreements and the Malaysia Agreement of 1963.

Moorthy, whilst in exile in London, had immersed himself in much research into the founding of, first, Malaya, and later, Malaysia and his new-found knowledge in this regard will, I am sure, prove to be most helpful as we try to undo the injustice of the last 49 years that the people of Sabah and Sarawak have been put through by some of the most dishonest distortions and untruths that have been written into our history and text books on the founding of Malaysia.

Bro, I look forward to working closely with you in the coming days, weeks and months to rid this nation of the curse that UMNO / BN have long been.

Makkal Sakti!
