What must be understood is that any conspiracy such as the conspiracy speculated on here cannot be carried out in reality with corrupt police officials, a dead claims investigator who was also a presumd luxury car thief and investigators alone. It requires more than that. And the truth has a way of revealing itself through the actions of very nervous usually violent people like elements of the Malaysian government and memerbs of its police force.
ReplyDeleteCar theft especially of the luxury variety requires the cooperation of car owners who benefit from the claims and a host of others in the chain who include executives of the insurers who also in other ways benefit from processing and manupulating fraudulent insurance claims.
One has to merely remember the culture of corruption discovered within Malaysia's general insurance sector that claimed a large number of insurance companies including the billion dollar collapse of Mercantile Insurance Bhd in the early 1990s'.
Investigations then revealed a number of high powered individuals from within and outside the system including the top executives of the company dipping into and actively participating in stripping the companies of its shareholders funds through an elaborate system of fraud involving the underwriters, agents, car owners mainly (the primary beneficiary from any claim) then the insurance company executives themselves who stood to benefit from approving pay outs on the fraudulently lodged claims gaining a kickback from the agents who paid it out to fraudulent claimants.
These syndicates then were mainly Chinese taxi operators in the Kelang Valley. The silence of the Chinese community in the murder of Kugan is deafening. Why I wonder.
An open investigation will get deeper into the problem. As it currently stands, an independent TV crew from Australia has managed to inflitrate a sophisticated Chinese run gang in each of Johore Bahru, KL and Penang who run a syndicate which from early reports implicate the police at a fairly high level, two cabinet ministers and the chief executive of two very large general insurers in Malaysia.
To see things in perspective one must remember that in previous years in the not too distant past the wife of a prominent banker held the office of deputy finance minister in the Malaysian government. There was no disclosure regime and non was made by her as to her position in conflict with that of her husbands multi billion dollar empire.
It would not take an Einstein to understand the possible conflicts that could arise which did during the Asian economic crisis.
That bank concerned did particularly well with selling off local currency in advance of the event and in return it held foreign exchange and foreign shares having sold down their local positions with whats believed to have been insider trading on classified government information before it became public.
Even the largest banks in the world had dificulty making such an accurate call as this bank did. No one questioned the coincidental ( highly irregular) timing of their good fortune.
A poor Indian may have been the fall guy for this syndicate. But the police and Syed Albar's handling of the murder may yet be theirs and Malaysia's undoing.
Malaysia's undoing because the results of the current investigation will irrpairably damage Malaysia's economic credentials as a place of trust or integrity.
The added pressure of the panicky knee jerk reaction of the police and others involved in disposing of Ananthan will reverberate far beyond the grave.
