Why Perak Sultan’s Jubilee function was put off?~malaysiakini

IPOH, Feb 8 – A people’s function with the Perak Sultan in Batu Gajah in conjunction with the silver jubilee of the ruler’s reign, scheduled for this Tuesday from 4.30pm, has been postponed to another date.

State Secretary Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Hashim said the Sultan of Perak had consented to the postponement of the function after considering the safety of the people.

He said Sultan Azlan Shah had asked the Perak police chief to brief the ruler on public order and security situation in the state.

“The Sultan was informed that the current situation was under control,” he said in a statement issued here today.

However, Abdul Rahman said, in view of the trouble created in Kuala Kangsar on Feb 6 by a certain group, the Perak police chief had advised the Sultan accordingly.

“The Sultan considered the public safety factor and consented that the function be postponed to another date to be announced later,” he said. – Bernama

Some of the possibilities!!!
1. If he thinks what he did was right, why is he afraid to appear in front of the rakyat, HIS RAKYAT, and explain why he did what he did?

2.He who does no wrong need not fear.

3.Sultan need not bother to think about Perakians safety when he can't even think about their welfare and their wishes. I'm not too sure if anyone will bother attending now Sultan?

3.As the new state government is via back door entrance, this has anger the majority of perak people.

4. In order to bring back piece and people respect, it is advised that a new state election is called immediately...

5. Why public safety? Safety from what or from whom? If the police and FRU protect the people, then the people will feel safe. But they attack the people, then the people don't feel safe.

6. In fact the jubilee can go on with the presence of whole gang of UMNO, plus thousands of FRU and PDRM. In this way even the live telecast in TV will look good wat, your highness!!! Those who cannot win the heart of rakyat is not a ruler....

7. The rakyat of Perak are mourning. Many people will be wearing black after the Chinese New Year's Chap Goh Mei as a mark of respect for the Malaysia Chinese.
These are darkest days for democracy in Perak and this Sultan had resulted it. What celebration ?

8. Do not attend any state functions/celebrations organised by bn/umno including sultan's silver jubilee. do not wear yellow but wear white/black instead
What happened to our most respectful Sultan Azlan Shah?

9. GUILTy...one word will do.. najib is jinx and bad omen for the nation, state, sultan and the rakyat. period.

10. First it was najib running scare and now this almighty must be respected at all cost poor sultan is also running scare after najib. The sultan fears for his own safety even though he was briefed that "the current security was under control" and mind you it "was" and not is under control. Fnally this sultan is running away with his tail between his legs despite being guarded by royal guards. Now the sultan is even afraid of his own shadow.

11. The sultan's silver jubilee in the silverland has died prematurely. this is so pathetic when all these years the royalty was building false image which collapses by a single act of this so called prerogative leaving the sultan without any dignity.

12. It is still not too late to admit his poor judgment and call for state election giving the perakians their only right to choose a new government.

13. Somebody afraid to face the people!!Last night was Najib..
Berani buat tak berani tanggung...standard le!!

14. DYMM Tuanku, Looking at current developments, it's best to cancel or postpone all celebrations. What Police dare not tell you is that it's better to lie low in order to avoid embarrasement (I really hope no untoward incident "similar to Bush") in public due to your historical judgement day.

15. If you like to see what you LIKE ONLY, then UMNOcrats can arrange the function for you. However, if you want to know the ACTUAL REACTION from Rakyat in any function/celebration, then ask your internal Palace people to do fact-finding yourself without fear or favour.

16. Or perhaps the people's pain is something some people find enjoyable. You cannot tell nowadays. The person you least expect to be bad is the one who had seem the most good.

17. What has happened in Perak is utterly appalling. Never will the royal house regain its good name after this debacle. Though I live in Singapore I too will mark this Tuesday as a day of mourning by wearing black in solidarity with my kinsman back in Perak. Its to mark the 'The Death Of Democracy in Perak'
Lets us learn from this travesty of justice and pulverize Najib and his corrupted whores in the GE13.

18. Tuanku, you have betrayed the people who needs for an election to solve the crisis in your state Perak, instead of seeing their representatives jumping parties like a FROG!

19. But you responded biasedly, and forgot about your people who respected you before, and the Undang2 Tubuh Negeri Perak. You are acting above the Law. By that reason, the people have the right to go against you. But you have all the protection, from the police personnel who only work to feed their families. They could not go against you too, to avoid from being fired.

20. If the government can "flip-flop" between policies on issues of national importance like the KL Labu Airport project, with respect, why can't the Sultan change his mind and decide to dissolve the State Government and call an election?
That would be a smart move because it would take him off being accused of biased towards the BN Government.

21. The key question is, will His Royal Highness be able to get the courage to do so? It is not easy and it needs a lot of guts but when he does, he will get a lot of support from his subjects in Perak. It will take him off the hook on being accused of not being neutral. Of course, he may get the wrath of BN but then, he should be able to withstand it as there is only so much they can do. They still need to respect him as Sultan, and BN cannot remove him.
