Please allow me to first congratulate Kenny Gan for his timely article, Can BN stave off Pakatan?, the contents of which I am fully able to subscribe.
However the possibility of BN losing power by the next general election does bring this nagging matter of the fact that the Pakatan is not a viable coalition. I am not assured comfortably of whether it will be in the future.
For the want of a change, the voters, in the last general election had brought about a strong opposition in the form of Pakatan. But then events subsequent have pointed to the existence of a serious flaw in the working relationships among the allies within the Pakatan.
The worse thing is that the flaw is due to the fundamental difference in the core beliefs and thinking, particularly between DAP and PAS. Pakatan seems to be constantly embroiled in internal disputes and spates that reveal no long term solution.
The quarrels have also given one the feeling that the Pakatan leaders have lost sight of the role of check and balance that it is supposed, or is expected by its supporters, to play.
Putting the above into a scenario where, say the next general election, where the voters continue to vote any party but BN and Pakatan wins control of our Parliament, one cannot be faulted in one's concern of whether the scenario is going to be much worst than when BN is running the country.
Malaysia will then be in the hands of Pakatan, whose leaders will spend more time to sort out their differences than using the same to tackle problems and opportunities that are facing the country.
Change for the sole reason of change may bring about the worst?
