Anwar angry over probe on Pakatan duo

KUALA SELANGOR: PKR de factor leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has described the police's move to use the Sedition Act 1948 against Pakatan leaders as "just too much".

Speaking to a 10,000-strong crowd here last night, he said the police were being used to disturb and pressure Pakatan leaders, in this case PKR leader R Sivarasa and PAS's Salehuddin Ayub.

"This is an abuse of government machinery. They (the government) are using the police to disturb and pressure PR leaders, when the police should in fact be investigating the hundreds of corruption and racial reports against Umno-BN," Anwar said, adding that he had full faith in Sivarasa and Salehuddin.

"I have full faith in their (Sivarasa and Salehuddin's) capability as leaders. I have heard them before and even in parliament they are responsible speakers, " he said.

Yesterday, police officers - ASP S Subramaniam and Insp Fahmi Abu Samah - from the Seberang Jaya headquarters spent an hour interrogating Sivarasa and Salehuddin in parliament, in relation to their speeches at a ceremah in Seberang Jaya on Feb 7.

On Feb 8, Insp Irwandi Khirrudin Mohd Rijal had lodged a report. The report noted the issues addressed at the ceramah, which included Anwar's sodomy trial, corruption and abuse in Umno, Altantuyah and the Allah issue.
