The unfairness in the Malaysian education system :Kor Ming

MCA promised to build 6 new schools and relocate 13 SJK(C) as part of its election manifesto on 31/1/2008. However, until today less than 10% of these schools have been completed.

They have cited various reasons but actually, the BN administration is just lacking the political will to implement the reforms and fulfill their election promises.

To make the matters worse, the Education ministry crafted guidelines that all government reserve land can only be used to build Sekolah Kebangsaan, excluding SJK (C ) and SJK (T).

The ministry has also imposed ridiculous guidelines that all parties wishing to build new government-aided schools such as SJK (C) or SJK(T), the board of the school must raise at least 80% of the building funds before it can apply for the permit to build the new schools.

As a result, the Chinese community has been forced to raise at least RM100 million annually to support the well-being of the 650,000 students studying at the 1,284 SJK (C);out of which 85,000 are Malay students.

It must be remembered it is incumbent upon the Government to provide schools and basic education to all Malaysians regardless of their color and creed. Asking the citizens to raise funds on their own to build schools makese a mockery of Najib's 1 Malaysia concept.

Citing reasons to consolidate Sekolah Kebangsaan, the Ministry has also imposed guidelines that students from SK are not allowed to transfer to SJK (C) or SJK (T) but not vice versa, even this may be against the wishes of the parent and the student himself.

This open infringement of fundamental liberties and naked discrimination policy has been allowed to exist for too many years. After 53 years, MCA and Gerakan are unable to change or to repeal such unjust guidelines as until today, UMNO does not believe in multiculturalism and multi-racialism for a truly Asian Malaysia.
