SHAH ALAM - New Selangor State Secretary Datuk Mohd Khusrin Munawi has taken his oath of loyalty before Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim and state exco members were also present at the ceremony at Istana Bukit Kayangan here Thursday.

It is learn that former Selangor State Secretary Datuk Ramli Mahmud will be appointed a royal council member at the ceremony.

The palace has also lined up other events, including Selangor Raja Muda Tengku Amir Shah's investiture ceremony, where he would be bestowed the Datuk Setia-Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah award that carries the title Datuk Setia.

Reporters were not allowed inside, only photographers and videographers. According to officials, a press conference is scheduled to be held later.

Earlier Thurday, Khalid, in a statement, said he and state exco members were attending the investiture ceremony as a mark of respect and loyalty to the Sultan.

"Given that newly-appointed State Secretary Datuk Mohd Khusrin Munawi is also being sworn in today does not mean that our attendance indicates we accept the Public Service Commission's arbitary action against the state administration.

"We hold firm that the appointment of the state secretary is not final and needs to be tackled appropriately.

"We have also informed the Sultan that the state administration will be holding the state legislative assembly soon to amend the Selangor state constitution to return power to the Sultan and Mentri Besar, pertaining to the appointment of the State Secretary, financial officer and legal adviser.

"This automatically disqualifies allegations by certain quarters that we were disloyal to the Sultan."

He added that it was the current state government that was striving to return and protect the Sultan's and state's power that was eroded from the 1993 constitutional crisis.
