Now, there is ... 2 Malaysia

Written by Stan Lee, Malaysia Chronicle

A young graphic designer with his friends have launched 2Malaysia as a parody website to 1Malaysia.

The website http://www.2malaysia.org was launched on Monday after curious users on Facebook were intrigued by a Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/2malaysia.

The designer, who only wants to be known as Ariff, said that he could not stand what he termed the "hypocrisy" of 1Malaysia any more and decided to start the website.

"I was inspired by similar campaigns overseas - such as MyDavidCameron and decided to start something similar," he told Malaysia Chronicle.

Three posters are now available, following each of the 1Malaysia themes: 1Malaysia, People First, Performance Now.

For 1Malaysia, a poster showing the difference between Najib's rhetoric promoting 1Malaysia and the racist pieces in Utusan Malaysia.

A poster contrasting the subsidies for the corporate sector and the removal of subsidies for the public is placed under People First.

As for Performance Now, the poster portrays the collapse of the Sultan Mizan Stadium in Kuala Terengganu.

Ariff wants to make the campaign viral by getting the public to design their own posters and submit it to him to share on his website and Facebook page. He is not a member of any political party but became disillusioned with the difference between what Najib was saying and what was happening in reality.

"I want this campaign to be driven by the public, who I believe are just as tired of the propaganda. Being a designer, this is the least I can do," he said.
