Najib using the Police & courts against me, says Anwar

Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim claimed that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak is using the court process to stifle him further as the 13th general election approaches.

He said the charges which he faced were politically orchestrated against him as the opposition leader and were trying to deflect from the fundamental issue which is a fraudulent electoral process.

"Najib has to face me in the election and he wants to use the court to assist him. I want to tell Najib, the election is for the people to decide.

NONE"You should not use the court and a flawed law that you approved in parliament to intimidate your political opponent like me, and the others," Anwar (left in photo) said.

"You cannot use a questionable law (Peaceful Assembly Act) which the parliament had approved under heavy opposition to intimidate and stifle your political opponents,” he said.

“Once again he had used attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail for his own political whims. How many charges do you want to frame against me?

"He had already used every avenue - the media, the court - to stifle and intimidate me,” he said.

NONEAnwar said that despite having the prospect of coming to court for this case, he is not perturbed and it would not hamper his political efforts to campaign.

“The prosecution wants to have me tied up fast with the court process as they were seeking an early date. However, the defence team had objected to it,” he said.

The Permatang Pauh MP said that as with his sodomy II case, not only Malaysians but the whole world will be watching this.

He said the July 2 date gives him another month to actively campaign for the opposition cause.
