Honey I have SPLIT-ed Malaysian Unity but united Malay-Muslim unity

Who exactly are Malay-Muslims uniting against?

'The day when Malaysia is truly liberated is when the rakyat accept one another as comrades-in-arms fighting a common cause.'

your sayJames1067: To them, it's not the foundations of the nation that's under collapse, like the judiciary, police, MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission) and more or less every government department.

It's not the emptying of the Treasury, the giving away of hundreds of thousands of the citizenship rights to foreigners just for votes. It's not the selling of our security secrets to foreigners.

To them, it's not the game to bring division amongst the races that will bring down this nation, but disunity amongst the Malays.

When will these leaders ever wake up to realise that the most important ingredients in unity are the bread-and-butter issues?

When the coffers are empty there will be not enough money, jobs or food to keep the people united. Stop taking people as fools as most of them have woken up to the realities of life.

Cannon: Playing on race and religion and instilling fear among the Malays for the other races, singling out the Chinese community and the Christian community as the bogeymen, to bamboozle the Malays into supporting Umno does not work any more.

The Malays and non-Malays alike have seen through Umno's deception. Malaysians are rejecting Umno-BN in favour of an alternative government that treats all Malaysians as stakeholders sharing a common destiny as one people and one nation.

Malaysians have awakened to the fact that race-based politics only entrenches the vested interests of the ethnic elites.

Communal politics have failed to resolve the issues and challenges that we face as a nation - notably, rampant corruption, cronyism, nepotism, gross economic mismanagement and waste, decline in economic competitiveness, lack of accountability, and erosion of the independence, integrity and professionalism of our state institutions and the breakdown in the rule of law.

Umno is clearly an obstacle to national unity.

SMC77: Our future does not depend on high quality education, good governance, meritocracy, fair distribution of wealth and other key factors for success, as in other developed countries.

So according to DPM Muhyiddin Yassin, we will become a first world country just by uniting the Malays and Muslims?

Paul Warren: Explain why unity of the Malays/Muslims needed? So they get united. United for what?

Prosperous nation? You can have that and more if all Malaysians were united. External threats? Once again wouldn't that be better if all Malaysians were united against that?

Malays, Indian, Chinese, Kadazans, Ibans, Melanaus, Sikhs, Portugese and others? Oh yes, wouldn't it be also better for Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Hindus, Sikhs, animists and atheists were all also united in dealing with external threats?

But you are asking only for Malay-Muslims to unite? You are not asking that of the Chinese, Indians, Kadazans, Ibans, Melanaus, Sikhs, Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, Taoists, Sikhs, etc.

So you see Malay-Muslim Malaysians on one side and all the rest of the Malaysians on the opposite side.

The only reason you need your brand of unity is you see threats from those you are not asking to join your unity wagon. You see everyone else as the enemy.

vCan: How can a DPM wanting a single-race unity become a suitable future top leader of the country?

His vision of a truly unifying country cannot be attained just from the Malay-Muslims. PAS is more open-minded than Umno, more rational in their Islamic values and would appeal more for all Muslims to be united under its banner.

In fact, PAS does not harp on racial issues. The party is more concerned with national development issues, such as eradicating poverty, providing better education, more equality and meritocracy, accountability, fairness and justice in government and judiciary.

Umno is of no match to them.

Multi Racial: Muhyiddin should not cling on to the DPM's post if he is continuing to represent a single race and religion in this country. Why is he not talking about Malaysian unity?

In any case, it is not realistic to expect all Malays to have the same political viewpoint and the same applies to all races. Even within a family, sometimes there are also differences in their political viewpoint.

Muhyiddin should spend his time fighting corruption and racialism which are dividing this country. He should be looking into the deteriorating of our education system. He should be looking into how to improve his ministry's efficiency.

Regrettably his only interest is race, race and race.
