40% of govt funding for NGO diverted as 'COMMISSION': PKR's Chegubard reports to MACC
PKR-linked pressure group Solidariti Anak Muda Malaysia has given Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission documented evidences of kickbacks involving a Federal government department and high-ranking political party leader.
“The bribery is said to be in the form of 40 percent commission transferred to a company whose status remains unknown in Klang this year. The source of commission is believed to have come from the welfare assistance provided by Federal government to an NGO, amounting to RM500,000,” said SAMM chief Badrul Hisham Shaharin.
Among the evidences handed over were minutes of meeting that took place last March, copies of cheques amounting to RM200,000 and letters detailing those involved.
“The money would be transferred to an association of former police officers. It was obtained through the help of a high ranking political leader. However, in the association’s meeting in March, they were asked by the political leader to pay 40 percent commission to the company registered in Klang,” added Badrul.
Badrul questioned if the practice was a norm as all transactions were documented.
“Can a welfare fund from Prime Minister’s Department be used to pay commission to a company with unknown status?” he asked, as quoted by Malay daily Sinar Harian.
Badrul also claimed that he had received the 25 documentary evidences in an anonymous package sent to his house in Nibong Tebal on September 12.
