DAP senator Ramakrishnan claims that the Putrajaya administration is engaging the mainstream media, bloggers and cyber troopers to spin media tales and images to boost its waning popularity.

GEORGE TOWN: A DAP senator has hit out at Barisan Nasional for spending millions to spin fake stories and images to paint a rosy picture on its federal governance and shed its corrupt image.

S Ramakrishnan alleged that the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) had spent at least RM100 million to engage APCO and other foreign public relations agencies and image consultants to improve its public image.

He said the international media had exposed some of these foreign PR consultants faking as commentators, journalists and columnists, while some were either under probe or fired in their own countries.

He alleged that the Putrajaya administration had also engaged mainstream media, bloggers and cyber troopers to spin media tales and images to boost its waning popularity.

He claimed current plethora of fake stories, fake tweets, fake statistics, fake electoral rolls, fake ICs, fake citizenship and fake photos as clear evidence of BN pseudo spinning in the social media.

“It’s BN desperate measure to win over the voters ahead of the next general election.

“But deceiving the public is an unforgivable act,” said Ramakrishnan, cautioning BN that voters were not going to believe fake, false and flimsy media spin.

He reminded Najib and others that national political leadership was all about sacrifices in nation’s interests, not selfish motives to enrich the BN leaders and their cronies.

“Unfortunately current leadership is tainted with corruption scandals to stay in power at all costs,” he said.
