Quick approvals for all investments: Anwar

Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the five state governments led by Pas, DAP and PKR would approve all foreign and local investments quickly.

The process would be done in a transparent manner, smoothly and without leakages, he told reporters after meeting Perak Menteri Besar Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin here.

The five states are Kelantan, Penang, Kedah, Perak and Selangor.

Anwar said the leaderships of the three parties had promised to create a conducive investment climate to generate growth and he would visit Arab countries next week and meet several Chinese companies to woo them to invest in the states.

He said the state governments led by Pas, DAP and PKR had to focus on promoting economic growth because if they failed to do so, they would not be able to distribute wealth fairly to the people as promised during the general election.

Meanwhile, Anwar said many Barisan Nasional (BN) members of Parliament had expressed interest to join the opposition and he had met their representatives in Sabah, Sarawak and also the Malaysian peninsular.

"Our principle is that anyone can be with us based on the agenda of national struggle and reform but buying people is not our tradition," he said.

"We are not in a haste because we still have time," he added.

The PKR, DAP and Pas now have 82 seats in Parliament while the BN forms the government with 140 seats. - DAILY EXPRESS
