This is bad politics for PKR stirring up discords and deep dissatisfaction with the escalation of acrimony in the ranks and files and the supporters as soon as the candidate was named. The sowing of discontent with personal ambitions and greed overriding the Pakatan Rakyat ideology is expected to under mind the PR campaign. Even banners and posters have come up for another candidate and accusing the leaders of betraying Makkal Sakthi and HINDRAF. The protest has since widened into an ultimatum.
The stake is very high and there will be many independent candidates to split the votes and this will definitely favour the BN or its blue eye boy Samy Vellu; giving him the license to claim the success of “re-branding” for his ailing personal party. Now is the right time to hammer in the final nail into the coffin wherein lies the last of the MIC!
The Opposition leader, saudara Anwar must immediately reach out directly to them and patches up and not leave the problems to fester. Saudara Anwar must make a clear and firm stand immediately that PKR or the PR will not accept those who stand against the PR candidate for five years. This is the principle the PR must uphold.
The prize for the winner in Bukit Selambau is too plump and tempting with the high expectation of the reward of an exco post. PKR should open the cards and make a public declaration that the exco post belongs to PKR and that the winner will not necessarily be appointed as an exco. Why should PKR bring in the race issue? Why is PKR giving this stupid promise of an exco post to the winner of this by-election? PKR should make a clear stand that any qualified ADUN could be appointed as an exco to serve the people - all the people without looking at the colour or race.
