Based on statistics compiled by the Election Commission (EC), some 70 per cent of the 4.9 million Malaysians yet to register as voters.
This is alarming evidence of the current lack of political participation amongst Malaysians today. There is therefore an urgent and immediate need to ensure Malaysians are given adequate exposure and education on the election, current issues and the important role they play.
Equally or more pressing is the need to get young Malaysians to register as voters, an exercise necessary for Malaysia to truly reflect the representative democracy it prides itself on.
Malaysians can register as voters and change their address at any Post Office in Malaysia.
Why people who are eligible to register as voters are not doing so. The truth of the matter is that it boils down to their 'tidak apa' or 'couldn't care less' attitude. So, Drop The 'Tidak Apa' Attitude!!
There is saying, your future starts from home, if any of of your family members are not registered as voters, please advise them to do so immediately. Your future is in your hand.
