Bomb explodes at Petronas station

BANGKOK, Sat: Three people were injured when a home-made bomb exploded at a Petronas station here during a fight between two rival paramedic rescue team members.

During the 3.30am incident, a local Petronas staff, a motorist who stopped by to ask for direction and a member of the rescue team were injured at the station located along the Ekkamai-Ram Intra road.

A police spokesman said the incident followed some misunderstanding between the two rival groups which happened earlier in another location.

“One of the rescue teams stopped at the station. Later, the other group came and threw the home-made bomb,” he said, adding that similar fights between different paramedic groups had happened before.

The spokesman said the incident was not related to the ongoing political development where thousands of protestors are camping outside the Government House to demand the resignation of Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej.

Petronas has about 118 stations in Thailand.
