He emphasised the importance of genuine partnerships and cooperation between Malaysians for mutual benefit.
Dato Seri Anwar said that the Barisan Rakyat coalition is pursuing the Malaysian Economic Agenda that will, among other things, encourage domestic economic growth by promoting entrepreneurship, lowering the barriers of entry for businesses and ensuring a level playing field for all. It will promote a fully transparent culture of openness in the awarding of government contracts and tenders and granting awards based on competitiveness and sound track records, not on political connections.
In addition, the Barisan Rakyat coalition will adopt affirmative action policies based on needs rather race to ensure that all impoverished Malaysians are given the means to empower themselves and break the cycle of poverty. There will be opportunities for all who are prepared to work hard and cooperate, and contribute to the nation.
