Indian elite also abandon Indian poor
The elite Malaysian Indians in the Opposition parties, NGOs’,Peoples Progressive Party(PPP) and the Malaysian civil society generally choose not to champion Indian issues for they are conscious in not wanting to be

accused and/or be branded as Indian communalist, chauvinists, extremist or racist or that they may offend and end up losing the 60% Malay Muslim votes/popular support and/or that they may not appeal to the 90% Malay plus Chinese majoritarian population. Or they simply fear losing business from the 90% Malay and Chinese. Or it is a safer bet and politically lucrative wanting to be seen to be championing the majoritarian 90% bi-racial malay and Chinese causes.
These Indians who we call the “multi-racial Indians” generally choose to play to the “majoritarian” bi-racial Malay Muslim, natives and Chinese political gallery and would choose to champion populist issues, and these communities’ issues as opposed to the non racial but critical, serious, real and most deserving issues which happens to befall on the Indians. The non-elite Indians, not so educated or savvy Indians are helpless and coupled with the deep rooted fear instilled in them for over the last 50 years by UMNO are in no position to assert even their very basic rights, for example when their children are denied even their very basic, innate and constitutional rights to be issued their birth certificates, when they are even the fifth and sixth generation Malaysian born Indians.
The Malaysian Indian Congress(MIC) which claims to champion Indian issues are actually in reality the powerless “mandores” (supervisors) though they are supposed to be an equal coalition member and the third most senior partner in the ruling UMNO controlled Barisan Nasional (BN) government that has been ruling Malaysia for fifty-three long years without a break in the chain.
