The Muslim community in Malaysia is made up of individuals with many different viewpoints. There is a Malaysia Muslim community, but its views are incredibly varied and therefore it doesn't have a single, united leadership.
Malaysian Muslims should be able to contribute to Malaysian society and put forward ideas that can better society. But Muslims shouldn't have to do this at the expense of our teachings and ideals.
Malaysian Muslims have felt under siege. Some members of the community have recoiled and made barriers for themselves against non muslims. A lot of Muslims' faith has been strengthened because of feelings of persecution over the last few years, and many Muslims have diverted from the grassroots teachings of Islam.
One of the problems within the Malaysian Muslim community was that they hadn't engaged with non muslsims culture. Malaysian Muslims were happy to live within their own communities, they felt like they didn't need to participate with non muslims in controversial issues that is dampeneing the harmonious society. The barriers created by politicians.
Most non-Muslims in Malaysia have everyday contact with Muslims. So most Malaysians believed exactly what the media and the government told them about Islam. The polticians however have different agendas as they would like to control the community in such a way that they would play a dominant role in every decision made concerning Malaysians, let it be muslims or non muslims.
To fight this ignorance, Malaysian Muslims need to go out and engage with as many non-Muslims as possible, they need to join organisations from the women's movement to socialist movements, so that they are seen and heard and their ideas and ideals are understood and appreciated.
I want to believe that the future for Malaysian Muslims and non Muslims can be positive. But in order to create a multicultural, united country, politicians need to stop making Muslims and non Muslims as scapegoats.

At the end of the day, politicians will do what they have to gain the vote and keep the power. Be it Dr Seri Dr. Mahathir, or DSAI, I have always found it hard to trust in politicians.
In a democratic system, where a cheat or a liar or a thief, or even a murderer, can be Prime Minister (or Deputy), politicians are a necessary bane.
Therefore as a thinking member of Malaysian society, and a patriotic citizen, I can only trust in the common sense and good will of my fellow Malaysian to look upon ourselves not by race or by religion but by the fact that we all share the same fate.
If Malaysia goes down, we all go down.
that is what im doing now buddy.
well said.
more muslims should know this, especially the muslim malays..
These diaphanous and veiled policies practiced by the Ruling party , UMNO has clear touches of ethnic cleansing, in the years of laws legislated. The results of it is clear in the polarization of of the Muslims and Non Muslims by the creation of barriers by the Politicians of UMNO .
The only way to seek redress, and protest that the future would not bring in the ugly head of a Man ruling Malaysia is to bring the case to be checked with UN HR laws see these at the Hague. This is the only way an ordinary citizen can live in peace and harmony . The figures shown in the embassies of the emigration by Non malays tell lots of stories , WHY !
gSomeone tipped me off that ..
