Why must the rakyat pay the price for their incompetence, inefficiency and idiocy via higher prices of petrol/sugar and even higher taxes?

Many are distressed and enraged with the recent hike in the price of fuel and sugar. The Malaysian Insider reported HERE that the price of RON95 has increased by five sen to RM1.90 per litre, diesel by five sen per litre to RM1.80 and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) by five sen to RM1.90 per kg. Sugar now costs 20 sen more at RM2.10 per kg.

The report said:

Through these price hikes, the government expects to save subsidy payments of RM621.9 million on RON95, RM213.2 million on diesel, RM63.5 million on LPG and RM283.5 million on sugar a year, or a total of RM1.18 billion annually.

RON97 will remain on a managed float based on market prices.

This is the second wave of subsidy cuts following the first round of hikes on July 16, when prices went up by five sen per litre for petrol and diesel, 10 sen per kg for LPG and 20 sen per kg for sugar.
Over AT THIS LINK, various NGOs want this fuel price hike to be reviewed.

It seems that this is yet another blinkered blooper to exercise damage control for the various leakages in our country. Are citizens regarded as cows to be milked when those in power are unable to address problems in our country?

Could it be that they DO NOT WANT TO or DO NOT KNOW HOW TO deal with the many economic and social ills that we are facing?

If there is genuine noble intention to salvage what is left of our country and the economy, surely they would work to:

* stop overspending in the government/federal projects and expenses
* diligently work to curb corruption completely
* practise transparency in awarding contracts via open tenders
* give no special treatment to any party/or their cronies
* stop comparing our country to neighbouring countries in a delusional manner
* start downsizing the civil service
* put right overstaffed operations
* increase efficiency
* CANCEL all nonsensical policies/projects such as taking 1Malaysia to Indonesia to enlighten Malaysian students who are “blur” about the idea.
* walk the talk where KPI is concerned

Why must the rakyat pay the price of their incompetence, inefficiency and idiocy via higher prices of petrol/sugar and even higher taxes?

Does the government have the political will to plug ALL leakages and to stamp out corruption and cronyism BEFORE reducing subsidies?
