Peter
Chin does not deserve to be the Minister of Energy, Green Technology
and Water Ministry. He has failed to exercise his powers in resolving
the issues surrounding the water control and distribution in Selangor.
Instead he had the DPM to trespassed into his area of responsibility via
a committee whose members are impartial as they are mainly from UMNO
Selangor. The committee has now decreed that they are not able to shift
the management of water from TSR to the Selangor Government because
there is a legal suit between Syabas and the SSG.
It
is undeniable that there is a legal suit. It appears that the court has
no urgency in hearing this case. The case is not about control but
about compensation as a result of failure of SSG to allow water rates to
go up. What is the big deal about this legal suit that it makes to
committee lifeless? What it takes is nothing more that setting a date of
transfer and once the court decide than the court will decide on who
will pay and how much to pay. Is that so difficult? Instead the Cabinet
committee is coming up with unnecessary excuses. Despite the suit, it
did not stop FG to give a soft loan to Syabas. It did not stop PAAB from
taking over all the Syabas water bonds from the bondholders.
The
FG is good at finding excuses of not moving forward. That is their
expertise. The way I see it is that they don’t want to move forward.
Perhaps the reasons are financial i.e. UMNO financials and off late
about losing face. They have been defending this issue for so long and
they have been drawn it deeply. Agreeing to transfer the water
operations to SSG means that they are allowing SSG to gloat and that
means a big defeat to Selangor BN. That’s the way the politician thinks.
They don’t want to think about doing the right thing. It is a sad for
Malaysia. An Olympic gold medal would help to divert the attention from
politics!
