Malaysian public Exam slips must tell more

THERE have been various opinions expressed on the quality of our students and some quarters have questioned the validity of exam results. I for one, do not think that our quality of education has improved and believe that the "curve" has dropped to show year by year achievement. To prove me and others wrong, this is my suggestion to the Education Ministry.

When the PMR and SPM & STPM results are announced, the result strip, instead of just reporting the aggregate, should include the marks and the range (minimum and maximum) of the aggregate.

This way, students, universities and colleges would be able to compare applications between students at the top of the curve and bottom of the curve.

It would prevent or minimise disputes on who’s more qualified for places. The ministry should also provide such details when reporting the results and making comparisons against previous years.

It is also to ensure that Malaysian government does not discriminate any students dues to their background of race, religion.

Being transparent is the only way to ensure that Malaysian public examnination is at high standard rather than conducting exam for the sake of passing certain unqualified students to pursue tertiary education.

Remember practice what you preach on Transparency and Integrity
