KAPAR LAND GRAB BY BN GOVT: Files missing from MACC office, claims MP

THE controversy surrounding the Kapar land-grab issue has deepened. Now, there are claims that files containing details of reports lodged with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission have gone missing.

Those reports were filed by the pioneers of the Kampung Perepat Green Revolution programme who were displaced after their agricultural land, which they operated on Temporary Occupation Licences (TOL), were taken over by a lawyer, who is a "Datuk".

Kapar MP S. Manikavasagam said when he went to the Selangor MACC office at Plaza Masalam in Shah Alam on Friday, an MACC officer told him that three reports lodged by the Kampung Perepat pioneers, as well as the one he personally filed last year, could not be found.

The visibly incensed Manikavasagam, accompanied by 10 pioneers, demanded an explanation from MACC. "How is this possible? How can files from the MACC office go missing?" he asked.
"I am giving the MACC one week to locate the files and start an enquiry on this matter. If the MACC fails to do so, we will not hesitate to file a civil suit against it for misplacing the files."

Manikavasagam went to the MACC office on Friday to file a fresh report after Kampung Perepat residents informed him that no action had been taken on their complaint - and learnt about the missing files.

Attempts to get the MACC to respond to Manikavasagam's allegation were futile.

MACC Investigations Department director Datuk Shukri Abdul said the matter should be referred to MACC chief commissioner Datuk Seri Ahmad Said Hamdan. Intelligence Department director Datuk Mohd Jamidan Abdullah took the same position and said the matter did not fall under his purview.

Phone calls to Ahmad Said till late last night went unanswered. Text messages detailing Manikavasagam's allegation to Ahmad also drew no response.
4 years... still no solution to District Office error

ON Friday, Malay Mail reported that 17 families who held TOL for agricultural land in Kampung Perepat in Kapar, Klang, had yet to get back their land despite the promise four years ago by the Selangor government that the plots, allegedly taken over by a lawyer using the names of his family members and friends, should be returned to them.

A bungalow and other terrace houses were built on the land. The State government had in 2005 admitted that the Klang District Office had made an error in allocating the land titles to the lawyer, his family members and friends.

The State government had, in April the same year, revoked the titles awarded to the lawyer, who is a Datuk, his relatives and his friends.

However, a recent check revealed that some of the plots were still under the Datuk’s name, while some were under the names of his wife, two sisters, two brothers-in- law, father-in-law and other relatives.

Today, there is even a small stream channelled to a lake with water lilies within the bungalow’s compound. A public road leads to the residence. The gates were padlocked during a check yesterday.

Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim had warned that the State would demolish the structures if they were illegal.

On Friday, Manikavasagam urged the MACC to investigate how the plots were transferred to the Datuk, his family members and friends — he alleged — within 24 hours.
