YOURSAY "While I set really low behavioural thresholds for Umno, it is certainly very shocking to see a prime minister resort to such low class tactics in his desperation."
Najib dares 'stupid' PAS to leave Pakatan
Do you have anything better to tell us? Or have you already lost confidence in the coming election and have to behave like a mad dog, going around biting others on the street and indulging in name-calling? How can we vote you in again? Shame on you Najib!
Kleo: Sometimes, I fool myself into thinking that perhaps, just perhaps, Najib still has a trace of moderation in him, that he's just overwhelmed by the opposing current of Umnoputras within Umno.
But without fail, Najib proves me wrong time and again. His Umno AGM speeches show just how much he falls short of the honour and dignity of his predecessors. Our prime minister is Third World mentality embodied.
Lynn: Najib's closing speech was really dignified and becoming of a prime minister of a country... no? What in the world is happening here? The PM is behaving like a schoolboy who has been beaten at exams by his arch enemy. While I despise Umno and set really low behavioural thresholds for them, it is certainly very shocking to see a prime minister resort to such low class tactics in his desperation.
He is not the opposition. Umno is in a position of power and hence they shouldn't have to resort to bullying, low class tactics but they do, anyway. They must be really, really scared.
Hermit Najib's speech was akin to the Mat Rempit kind of language.
Ben-ghazi: Umno/BN is finished. Instead of showing dignity and nobility and statesmanship, especially after returning from his haj, this new ‘haji' Najib does not in the slightest way show that he has turned a new leaf (a sign of 'haji mabrur') to become the PM of all Malaysia (not 1Malaysia).
Instead, he has turned venomous in his attacks of his political foes, hitting below the belt all the time. He seems to enjoy the 'standing ovations' given by his fellow clowns in the general ‘ass‑embly'.
Most voters would have made up their minds by now as to how they would vote after listening to these foul speeches of Umno leaders and delegates. Clearly, they have not matured much as a party to be trusted for the next four to five years. I know how I would vote; do you?
Fairnessforall: Najib, your speech shows your desperation. It shows you are not confident of winning the election as you know very well how you have played the people out by cheating them, by stealing from them and by lying to them. It is Umno that is stupid and not PAS. To be a political party, you have to do what is best for the people and not what is best for you.
That is exactly what PAS is doing. They are joining hands with DAP because they know that is what is best for all Malaysians. You daringly swore in the mosque because you do not fear Allah and will lie through your teeth, whereas Anwar does not abuse Islam for his own benefit the way you did.
Why should he swear in the mosque? So, are you saying, if he swears in court or the mosque, it means he is innocent? We know you are not innocent. What not just you but your wife and your cabinet have committed, but still you had no qualms about swearing in the mosque.
And you do not even know that cocks do not lay eggs? You think you are smart trying to insult Anwar, but your speech only shows how dumb and stupid you are. Where did you get your qualifications, seeing that you don't even that know only hens lay eggs? You are really not fit to be PM. Such a disgrace.
Wanderer: How can a cock lay eggs? The Umno PM is today a very confused and desperate man. Perhaps, he has never done things the natural way - after all, he did appoint many ministers the back way.
Queenie: All this ranting and raving only shows how shallow in thinking our PM is. Swearing four times on the Quran makes him think it shows he is honest and untainted? What bull.
Louis: Najib is the biggest clown and a hypocrite beyond compare. What's the big deal in swearing so many times? Botak Chin also dared swear that he did not murder in the name of whichever God you chose for him. Malai Chai, another famous crook in the Sixties, had no hesitation to swear that he did not rob.
I believe Al Capone would have had no qualms in swearing by the Bible if he could get away with all the murders and robberies. Now, the public knows that Najib wears many faces. In Chinese villages, he will pretend to be interested in the villagers' welfare, while in his heart he only wants their votes.
Restless Native: Our idiotic PM is sounding like a little angry boy who has had his marbles taken away. It is ironic that the PM, the leader of the ruling party, should resort to this base behaviour that is more in line with kurang ajar types.
But then again, this is BN leadership - a bunch of kampung boys who have been entrusted to manage Malaysia but, not knowing any difference from their thieving and conniving predecessors, think that by ranting and raving, they will be seen as the ‘true leaders' who should be voted in.
Sometimes, I just wonder in amazement how such nincompoops made it into office. Surely our Malay brethren (and the none-the-wiser Indians) have ample evidence in front of them all these years to come to a sensible conclusion? Out in the West, not one, I mean not a single BN leader will make it into any public office. The PM is the biggest ninny of all.
Faz: The orgy of stupid speeches saw no end in this Umno general assembly, from the delegates to the president. Every one seemed eager to show their hollowness, uncouth claims and downright ranting. I thought this was your general assembly, for you to glorify your achievements, but you had instead used this platform to belittle all your opponents in an unsavoury and childish manner.
Umno, the delegates and the office-bearers, you are a disgrace to your party, the Malays and the nation, since you are the main party of the ruling coalition. Thank you for blatantly being obnoxious as most of the fence sitters will abandon you. Umno is not capable of reform or change and losing for just once will do the trick. Then, we are in for the hoped‑for two-party political system, if Umno-BN doesn't collapse totally after losing Putrajaya to Pakatan first.
Black Panthar: Among all the Umno assemblies I've seen and heard/read, this is the worst of all. Being the major party of the ruling government, all talk and deliberations have only been about race, race, race, religion, religion, religion, shares in government contracts, and bang, bang, bang on opposition. What a shame!
What about Malaysia's future direction, economy, unemployment, infrastructure, poverty, skills, education, socio-economics of the Malaysians, etc? There was no concrete discussion at all. Umno says it is not a racist party, but why didn't the delegates discuss about Malaysians in general?
James1067: Najib, your speech should have been about how you are going to bring this country up with Umno, not abusing others. I don't think that Islam teaches us to slander or belittle anyone. You have just demonstrated through that speech you don't know what you are talking about. God is about humility, truth and love, not ranting and raving about others' mistakes thinking that we are perfect. You just blew your opportunity to reach out to the people. The people are laughing away as you run down your opponents.
Tailek: Najib is the biggest liar of them all. Before the Umno assembly began he told his goons not to talk bad about the opposition parties because he said 28 million Malaysians were looking at the Umno assembly.
Then his donkeys, beginning with Ahmad Maslan, followed by Muhyiddin Yassin and some Penang Indian Muslim Shaik Hussein, began slandering the opposition and basically telling Najib to go to hell with his instructions.
Then Najib ended up doing the exact same thing, because if you can't beat them, then join them. Najib is the biggest liar of all in Umno, a party that lies and cheats the people and plunders the nation's wealth through all their dirty deals, like NFC, MRT and Felda and the many thousands of crony deals during their last 22 years of misrule.
Cala: Najib, as a leader, we expect you to talk sense. Certainly the last thing I expect from you is for you to go so low as to resemble a kaki lima debate.

Anonymous_40dc As the dominant party in the ruling coalitio, I was expecting PM Najib's speeches outlining aspirations and plans for the country's future. Sadly, Najib's, and for that matter most of the speeches potray that of a party that has lost its grip on power and ready to loose the next GE.

Anonymous_3fc9 Well all right thinking Malaysians cannot expect anything rationale coming from BN especially from their master, UMNO! I am disgusted with what transpired in the recent UMNO General Meeting. More of a meeting of Mat Rempits.

My_Logic After what was seen to be the UMNO effort in putting across to Malaysians in view of the upcoming election, if UMNO and by extension BN is put back to power, it will only show that Malaysians have yet to prove themselves competent to put a responsible political party/parties into Government. We had seen this over and over again. Surely Civil Society (the 3rd Force) needs to step up their efforts to educate Malaysians on responsible governace and to see through the charade that was blatantly displayed without shame?

wanderer The scenario with the UMNO AGM was like, a head of a pack of feral pigs with its leader leading the way, running aimlessly in the jungle...having no purpose only to fill their greedy stomachs to the maximum destroying the fine vegetation. Malaysians wake up! cull these useless pigs...no blooming use to anyone.

Anonymous Looking at the pictures of the last day of the UMNO General Assembly, one cannot help noticing that at best it is only 60% full. Probably, the rest of the delegates are doing their last minute shopping before they head home. Guess what, this is the moment when their great respected leader is giving the final charge to go to war. Yet, 40% are absent. Is this like a well disciplined party? UMNO will lose and lose miserably when the real action begins.

Abasir What we heard was vintage najib, the low class, immature son of entitlement. The venomous, puerile rant only proves that no PR consultant, no matter how expensive he is, can make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

In the 1960's and !970's, many Chinese Malaysians spoke English among themselves. In year 2011, Chinese Malaysians speak Mandarin among themselves. I would like to commend UMNO-BN government for strengthening and consolidating the Mandarin language in Malaysia. UMNO-BN should be credited for increasing Mandarin usage in Malaysia. What ever changes in the education sector that UMNO brought about is indeed on the right track because Mandarin usage has increased. Furthermore, UMNO has been visionary because she has been able to predict the rise of China in the 21st century. Increasing Mandarin usage will benefit Malaysia because China is a rising power in this world. If only UMNO continues her pro-Mandarin policy, it will augur well for Malaysia in the long run. It is time to consider making Mandarin an official and national language in Malaysia.
Yes, one nation with one system will not work in a multi-religious and multi-lingual nation like Malaysia. All the three languages, Chinese, Malay, and Tamil, are different niches in Malaysia. They all contribute to Malaysia. Please ask Khairy to hold his tongue and mind his own business as regards to Chinese medium and Tamil medium schools.
At the global level, both Mandarin language and English will compete for influence. It is often a numbers game; and believe me that China with more than a billion people have an advantage in any numbers game. May be Chinese English will eventually be tolerated world-wide. (I define Chinese English as L1 interference English). Since China has a growing economy and more than 1 billion people, it would eventually be hard to avoid L1 interference English. The Chinese Malaysians should make sure that Mandarin medium schools grow in Malaysia.
By the way, the indigeneous people of Malaya are the Orang Asli, not Malays. Furthermore, another person who should hold his tongue and stop making comments is Dr.Chandra Muzzafar. Dr.Chandra Muzzafar has no influence among Malaysian Indians. If Dr.Chandra Muzzafar does make any comments, please ignore it.
The bottom line is that, no matter who says what, the future is that with every passing day both China and India are growing socially, politically, and economically. I don't care who says what; and I don't care who does what. Nothing can change the fact that with every passing day both China and India are strengthening socially, politically, and economically. That's it. The bottom line is the bottom line.
