Felda's Publicity department is said to have spent a total of RM494,560
on prime minister Najib Razak’s Hari Raya greeting cards, said
whistleblower group National Felda Settlers’ Children association
chairman Mazlan Aliman.
The huge allocation was used to produce 175,000 cards sent to Felda settlers during the recent Hari Raya’s celebration.
According to Mazlan, Felda's Publicity department headed by director
Noor Ehsanuddin Mohd Harun Nurrashid was UMNO’s political ‘gold mine’
under the supervision of deputy minister in the Prime Minister’s
Department Ahmad Maslan.
“Ask any shop, no matter how beautiful, Raya cards can't cost more than RM1.00 per card for an order of 100,000 pieces.
"But for 175,000 pieces, it cost RM2.50 per card,” said Mazlan.
Similarly, the PAS central committee member said Hari Raya banners which
would normally cost RM100 a piece had been quoted at RM180, to be put
up at 317 Felda settlements.
“The application and cost have been approved by (Felda chairman) Isa Samad totalling RM247,280,” he added.
The expenditure, said Mazlan, was proof that Isa and his cronies were
controlling Felda to enrich themselves by abusing settlers’ money.
He questioned whether Felda was now left unmanaged despite being placed
under Prime Minister’s Department, adding that money was better spent to
finance the housing scheme for settlers introduced by former Felda
chairman Yusof Noor.
Mazlan further added that Felda had been mum about the scheme following
the listing of Felda Global Venture Holding (FGVH) last June.
