UMNO, what do you want from non-Malays, their BLOOD.......

Mahathir concedes NEP abused but...

Anonymous_3fb5: The only Malays that have abused the NEP are the ones in power. They are the ones who manage the implementation of the NEP and everything that goes with it.

Mahathir had the cheek to stereotype all Malays as being at fault. Don't tell us that the Malay farmers working on their padi fields in Kedah or the fishermen who went to sea in Terengganu would have the opportunity to abuse the NEP.

Umno has transformed into a party for the Malays who want to be connected and make something for themselves. Everybody knows that. The Malays who are not connected and have no strings to pull, will just have to work as hard as the rest of the Malaysians to feed their families.

Anonymous: NEP can always be replaced by a need-based policy. The NEP being abused is not the only problem. Its biggest vice is the damage it is doing to the people it purported to help. It made dwarfs out of them, made them fearful of change and suspicious of other races.

Umno, in seeking wealth and power, will continue to exploit the fear and addiction of its own people to stay in power. Mahathir should have a better opinion of the ability of its own people. Instead, he make sure they stay foolish.

Gerard Samuel Vijayan: What more do the Malays want? The government, the armed forces, the police, the civil service, the universities and every aspect of the public sector including state and local governments are dominated by the Malays, in fact to the point of over-representation.

The GLCs are dominated by Malays. The public economy is also dominated by Malays with virtually all government contracts, projects, tenders, permits and licences given out to them. Yes, the Chinese may own 45 percent of the economy but that is through their hard work, competitive spirit and innovation. It was not through the NEP or government hand-outs.

The Indians except for the 30 percent who are in the professions and business are totally marginalised together with the natives of Sabah and Sarawak. The 70 percent of Malay households out of the 40 percent lower income group ought to be the focus of the government together with the poor and neglected of all other communities. Need, not race, ought to be the determination for economic help.

Don'tLeaveName: Who are these 2,000 people who still believe in this compulsive liar, double-talker, professional thief (who stole RM100 billion or RM888 billion from this country)? Sad that we still have so many ignorant fools in this country.

Keturunan Malaysia: You said you needed money to be in politics. This we never argue with you. But you are using our hard-earned money to be in politics. That's not enough, you conjured up things like NEP, bumiputeras, APs (Approved Permits) as sources of money to sustain your "one for him, two for you and many for me" and in the process, this ensures you to stay in power so that you can continue the plunder.

Yes, we suffered long enough but we tilled the soil ourselves to be where we are today. No, we don't fear for ourselves no more. We fear for our children and our children's children. Live long Dr M and may you continue to sweat long too.

Anonymous: It is really shameful and surprising to learn that Dr M just realised this. How come? He can't do anything? The abuses will go on as long as BN still in charge. Let's now make a change. Vote for Pakatan Rakyat at the next GE (general election).

Josephine: For a past PM and a medical doctor, I am appalled by TDM's lack of wisdom. We want to, and we must, help those (whether Malays or not) who are economically deprived. Now, why keep a system that benefits a bunch of people who (1) don't need help and (2) abuse the system.

Don't BN leaders have the capability to revamp a system that is out of date and being abused? And also, I believe, the NEP is an enemy of the Malays. It conditioned them such that there is no motivation to do better and try harder.

Instead of instilling innovation, NEP teaches the Malays to find 'connection'. Smart Malays know this. The rest just don't care.

Mogansivas: Mahathir is adamant that the NEP should remain as revoking the policy would mean that all Malays losing out, including those who may need help. So is the former discredited premier saying that all Malays, including the millionaires and billionaires, need handouts?

Malaysiawatch4.blogspot: I totally disagree! Means-based testing can be used so that the poor of all races can be given assistance in order for them 'to fish for themselves'. Is it justified to give say 100 APs each year to someone for 20 years? These type of schemes never empowered anyone, except to create a subsidy mentality.

Anonymous: We were suckers and thought it was okay under Dr M. Our parents' mind may have been fooled by MIC, MCA and Umno. Our parents always say Dr M did well. The new generation are now educated and most of them have degrees.

Dr M, they are smarter now. You can't fool them.
