I wonder how long it would take Umno to have a normal response. Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said: "I will tell him not to talk like that again."
Many felt disappointed, particularly other BN member parties.
A week later, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said Tuesday (2 Sept) that action "will be taken".
How serious BN's image could be harmed and how many votes it has lost within a week? It could be beyond our imagination. All these were merely because of an Umno division chief.
In fact, I was not surprised at all by Datuk Ahmad Ismail's remarks. It was Umno's core concept and part of its culture.
Similar remarks were made every year during Parliament sessions, Umno's General Assembly and currently, even during election periods. Such remarks were reasonable and stand to reason under Umno's sovereignty concept.
You may call it connivance or arrogance.
The 8 March general elections and Permatang Pauh by-election results seemed to have no impact on the party. The party did not even review itself after losing 78% of Chinese and Indian votes. It also did not care how anxiety MCA and Gerakan were, or how many support Pakatan Rakyat has gained.
It has long been extremely conceited and it did whatever it liked, which has rendered it incapable of properly responding to new environment and challenges. I see a dinosaur here.
