1. SAPP Youth questions LDP’s stand on the recent arrests of the ISA detainees Sin Chew Daily reporter Tan Hoon Cheng as well as the MP for Seputeh, Teresa Kok and the blogger, Raja Petra.
2. The recent press statements by Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) president, Datuk VK Liew and its youth chief, Chin Shu Ying seem to be voicing the Party stand but the statements made were contradictory in nature and confusing. Datuk VK Liew defends the government while his youth chief strongly objects.
3. The Party President Datuk Liew Vui Keong was quick to support the government’s actions. As a lawyer, he should have known better. The principles of a professional has been compromised by the need to polish the master’s shoes.
4. After the release of the reporter Tan Hoon Cheong and the stand of Datuk Zaid Ibrahim made known, the Party’s Youth chief, Chin Shu Ying, then condemned the arrests. Furthermore he ”concurred” with Datuk Zaid that ISA should only be used against terrorists and in time of emergency. He has even asked for the resignation of Syed Albar, the minister concerned for the “blunder”.
5. The episode is a fine example of LDP’s practice of double standard. They must explain to the people of Sabah as to their Party stand on the ISA issue.
