KUALA LUMPUR: DAP leader Lim Kit Siang has called for Minister Datuk Jamil Khir Baharom (picture) to be suspended or removed from his post for what he describes as “insubordination and insurrection” against prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s 1Malaysia slogan and vision.
He said Jamil, the minister in charge of Jakim (Islamic Development Department), must give a satisfactory explanation to the Cabinet for organising a forum for civil servants where Christians were derided over the “Allah” issue.
“If the Cabinet is not prepared to … take strong action against Jakim and the civil servants involved in the open insubordination and insurrection against Najib’s 1Malaysia concept, then the cabinet ministers are not fit or qualified to continue in office, “ he said in a blog posting.
He said if the Cabinet did not act immediately, police reports may be lodged against Jakim for "organizing an anti-national, inflammatory and seditious forum" for civil servants.
Jakim held a forum for 800 civil servants last Thursday, on the same day that Najib launched the 1Malaysia Government Transformation Programme (GTP) Roadmap at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
Yesterday, the Prime Minister’s office issued a statement saying Najib’s special aide Nasir Safar would resign over allegedly racist remarks which he made at a 1Malaysia forum.
