PAS continues to engage non-Muslims during CNY

Despite losing in the recent Tenang by-election, PAS learnt that it needed the support of the non-Muslim voters and more importantly it is able to hold its own in drawing their attention and support.

There seems to be no let up in PAS’ efforts in shedding their deep right wing Muslim brand, in favour of one that is more open and focused on important national issues such as fighting corruption.

The strategy may have worked for PAS as seen in the Tenang when MCA’s often tried tactics which is bent on raising the spectre of Islamophobia and hudud did not gain much traction with the Chinese voters.

The Pakatan party has upped the ante with its “PAS for All” concept at the Chinese New Year do involving PAS women wings and its famous non-Muslims supporters at several houses here.

The program began with a night before Chinese New Year by short message. What is interesting is the usage of traditional Chinese greetings" "Gong Xi Fa Cai,Xin Nian Quai Le.Happy Chinese New Year from Dewan Himpunan Penyokong PAS Miri.Yue Liang Dai Biao Wo De Xin(Moon Represents My Heart)", previously unthinkable for a Party such as PAS, to its Chinese supporters.

Special guest, Dr. Halimah Ali who is Selangor Exco but has her roots in Miri played to the tune as well. In her speech, he mentioned that the concept of PAS for all is very real

Halimah’s speech assured the Chinese that PAS for all is a real concept, and distinguishes it from PM Najib’s 1Malaysia rhetoric

Admittedly PAS who is one of the most consistent champion of a welfare state, also distributed some household items to those needy mainly single mothers and old folks to about seven families. She highlighted ,as in her constituency DUN Selat Kelang, that she win with a thumping majority ,although the seat is so called BN Safe Deposit Seat,people has make the miracle. She mentioned that as the people already fedup with the abuse of power by BN and corrupt leader,the change shall happen.

She believe ,for Sarawakians,after 3 decade of Taib regim,BN shall be topple and People Power shall emerge as victorious. Tunisia,Egypt and Yemen spirit of people power definitely motivated Sarawakian people to deserve their rights. Time for Change has come,she reiterated.
