This afternoon at about 12.00pm some thirty Hindraf supporters gathered at the Jalan Gasing Hindu Temple where a Press Conference was held.
T. Maharathan, a concerned hindu devotee from Jalan Gasing started the briefing by stating that some 30 years ago he had built the road leading to the Jalan Gasing hindu temple. How as a hindu he felt very hurt that this temple had been closed down for the last three years (by the PKR, DAP and PAS state government).
Maharathan had conducted the Bala Alayam Pooja prayers yesterday afternoon which had continued at 4.00 a.m this morning and ended at 12.00 p.m. After which the deities were taken from the main temple and relocated to the temporary temple to pave the way for corrective and defective works to the main temple. After which an opening ceremony( Kumba Abishegam) would be held in about one to one and a half years time.
Maharathan had pledged to submit the proper plans for approval and to apply for the land to this temple from the Selangor State Government.
Y.B. Manoharan Malayalam then said that this temple was very close to his heart and sentimental as even during his student days at University Malaya some twenty over years ago in the early 1980s’ he had come to pray at this temple.
P. Uthayakumar started off by saying that the then 90% hindu telecoms workers who had build the Telecoms Tower at the tip of Gasing Hill during the British Colonial days had also build this Sivan Temple as they had also build the Hindu temple atop the Bukit Jerai Hill top, Kedah in the midst of the Lembah Bujang ancient Hindu civilization. (But which has since been demolished by the racist and religious extremist UMNO government).
HRP Central Committee Member S. Thiagarajan said that some eight years ago during the Sivarathiri festival he has seen a crowd of some 5,000 people at this temple. Another elderly gentleman expressed his sadness that this once very popular hindu temple has been closed down to the general public.
P. Uthayakumar then continued by saying that there had been no Masjid, Surau, Church, Chinese or Buddhist temple that had been ordered to be closed down in Malaysia or any other part of the world except in One Malay-sia. But why does this have to happen only to a hindu temple and that too only in One Malay-sia and worst still by the very same PKR DAP and PAS Selangor State government which 90% of the Indians had voted for in the 2008 General Elections. P. Uthayakumar stated that this is in direct contravention of Article 11 of the Federal Constitution which guarantees Freedom of Religion.
P. Uthayakumar also pointed out that in any event the top soil minor landslide was some 40 feet away from where the main temple structure is built, which is on solid grounds.
Then P. Uthayakumar and Manoharan Malayalam unilaterally and jointly declared that from today the 7th of February 2011 with the completion of this Alayam Pooja at 12.00p.m this P.J Sivan Hindu temple is now open to the general public.
P. Uthayakumar then asked the Selangor PKR, DAP and PAS State government to within 30 days from today grant this P.J Sivan temple the land it is sitting on and gazette the same accordingly to give this temple a permanent status as opposed to the usual and present temporary solutions by both UMNO and also PKR, DAP & PAS state governments. Hindraf supporters Mano and Captain Bala of Puchong then led shouts of Hindraf which was responded with Valga (long live).
Prasatham was then served. Also to the uninvited Indian S.B mandores who will report this to their UMNO tuans.
Maharathan also clarified that there was only a slight and not serious mere top soil landslide. And it was beyond the scores of 18 feet roundish piling done around the temple facing the hillslope.
P. Uthayakumar said that this cannot be the “unsafe” lame excuse to close down this P.J hindu temple.
If this was the standards used then Genting Highlands and especially Cameron Highlands which has almost weekly landslides during the rainy season and the scores of high rise buildings and houses in and around Bukit Gasing alone, what more the hundreds in Selangor and thousands nationwide should also have been similarly closed down by the PKR Selangor and UMNO Governments. But why pick on this defenceless minority P.J Hindu Sivan Hindu temple.
On the way down from the temple, we could not help but had stopped to take pictures of a rich tuan/ towkay’s mansion which was resting on stilts of some 80 to 100 feet long running down from the floor of the said mention to the road below and very visibly and obviously seen every day to be dangerous by thousands of road users heading from Jalan Gasing towards the Federal Highway. (see photos below). But PKR DAP and PAS Selangor or UMNO will never close down the house or tear it down. Why?
After all Article 8 of the Malaysian federal Constitution provides for Equality before the law and equal protection of the law. But neither PKR, DAP , PAS or UMNO follows the law.
So where is the change promised by PKR, DAP and PAS?
UMNOs’ One Malay-sia.
S. Thiagarajan
Tuan/Towkay’s mansion next to P.J Sivan Temple but not close down or torn down.
