KUALA LUMPUR, July 9 — Bersih chief Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan was released by police at 6.30 this evening and declared that Malaysians have shown courage in the face of government intimidation.
She said the “amazing” turnout was a sign that “we do not want to be bullied anymore. Rough intimidation does not work anymore.”
The former Bar Council president said Bersih has become more than just an electoral reform movement and now represents the public’s wish for a mature democratic process.
