The police have been out-manoeuvred by people's power, says DAP's Senator S Ramakrishnan.
KUALA LUMPUR: DAP leader Senator S Ramakrishnan has proclaimed the Bersih 2.0 rally a success.
The senator, who was among those present at Menara Maybank, where the police fire tear gas and their water cannons, said the large turnout despite the odds, spoke for itself.
“The police have been out-manoeuvred by people’s power. The PM should realise this,” he added.
Meanwhile, Bersih 2.0 chairperson S Ambiga said she and several opposition leaders, including Anwar Ibrahim, are planning to march to Stadium Merdeka.
“We plan to march, if we can get through the front door,” she told reporters at the Hilton hotel in KL Sentral, where there is a strong police presence.
“You (the government) cannot quell our voices, you tried to use the might of the state against the rakyat, but right will prevail,” she said.
Ambiga added that a 10-member delegation will submit a memorandum on electoral reforms to the King.
She also reiterated the call for a Royal Commission of Inquiry to look into electoral reforms to ensure free and fair elections.
