The Deputy Inspector General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar says the six PSM members also had subversive tendencies.

KUALA LUMPUR: The six Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) members who were re-arrested today were suspected to be involved with foreign elements and had subversive tendencies, Deputy Inspector General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar said here today.

“That is why we re-arrested them, so that more investigations can be carried out… for now we are unable to reveal more information.”

“Police re-arrested them to prevent any crimes of a violent nature from happening besides allowing us to do follow up investigations,” he told reporters at the Bukit Aman federal police headquarters here.

Meanwhile, on the detention of Selangor state execuitive councillor Ronnie Liu yesterday, he said it was because Liu had allegedly incited people to join the July 9 illegal street demonstrations while speaking before a gathering in Hulu Selangor near here.

Khalid also said that as of yesterday, a total of 2,389 police reports were lodged throughout the country by civil society groups and individuals in protest of the July 9 illegal street demonstrations.
