Amid intense domestic and foreign pressure, Malaysian police have capitulated to free-and-fair elections reform group Bersih to hold its rally at the Stadium Merdeka.
It is expected to make a formal announcement at a press conference at 5.30 pm.
The news is bound to be cheered by supporters as it would provide greater safter and more orderly action.
"GREAT NEWS! Dang Wangi police station called Bersih, asked them to pick up permit for rally in Stadium MERDEKA! Now falls to PM & Stadium Management to make appropriate arrangements," Bersih said on its Twitter site.
