KUALA LUMPUR, 12 JULY, 2011: Bersih 2.0 Steering Committee member, Maria Chin Abdullah said that police had asked a victim of alleged police brutality to retract the report he had lodged against the police on Saturday.
"I received information that the police had asked the victim to retract his report over the police brutality suffered by the victim," said Maria.
Maria however refused to expose the name of the victim but hinted that it is a male.
Maria said that the conduct of the police personnel who were abusing their power against Bersih supporters last Saturday should not have happened.
Another steering committee blasted at the lack of professionalism among the police officers in handling the demonstrators during the rally.
"They (the Police) must remember that the cause and demands of Bersih 2.0 is also their rights.
"We make our demands as much as it is for their (the policemen’s) sons and daughters as much as it was for ours",
"Come on, they must think of this whenever they're going to baton people: why am I servicing this country in the first place?"
