* The organizers of Himpun organized a gathering. I am sure that everyone would assume that the RMP issued a permit because it is politically acceptable to the ruling government. The 1 million gathering came and went with a whimper. It is an absolute failure when about 5000 people gathered. The gathering itself is interpreted by non Muslim as an act of intimidation.
* There is one clear conclusion that we can make. Majority of Muslims in Klang Valley does not care about Himpun. Most people believe it is a political agenda. People are more concerned about traffic jam and putting food on the table. That is a good sign actually because it shows that majority Muslims could read the issue well and chose not to participate. I guess the organizers have made a fool of themselves.
* Based on images shown online, some disturbing banner can be seen. Among others “Hidup Melayu, Hidup Islam” and “Bersama Cegah Murtad”. Firstly being Malay and being a Muslim are two different matters. I have dwelled about this before. The best way to prevent apostasy is by teaching our children the true value of religion beyond praying 5 times a day.
* We don’t have to be confrontational with people of other religion. We just need to learn to “market” Islam better beyond praying and fasting and reciting Arabic text. The true values of the religion need to engrave into heart and minds of the people.
* If that happens then there will be no apostasy. No point blaming the Christians or the Hindus or Buddhist if a Malay chose to leave Islam. We need to blame ourselves first and don’t need to show power and strength with the aim to intimidate others.
