Who’s being disrespectful to the King now?

July 7, 2011

Remember the words of MCA’s Ng Yen Yen: “These rallies will result in tourism-related sectors losing three days of business because people are scared to come out.”

She also added: “People would remain indoors the day before the rally, on the day of the rally and the next day”.

We do not need a rally to make people stay indoors. Talk to the IGP and his deputy, their road blocks leading into the city centre is already doing that without any help from Bersih!

And this is days before the actual rally on Saturday. This same minister cannot account for RM2 million. Can she do maths at all?

Najib’s reneging on access to the stadium just goes to show the absolute lack of sincerity on the part of this Umno dominated government. They continue to use the Royalty for their purposes. When the opposition demonstrates, they are lambasted for being disrespectful to the King.

Now Najib, you have asked Bersih to respect the King’s wishes but you seem not to care an iota about the King’s plea for the Bersih organisers to have the rally in the stadium (which you very publicly agreed to).

And take home minister Hishammuddin Hussein’s “Just because Tuanku (Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Abidin) met them (Bersih organisers) doesn’t mean the rally is no longer illegal” comment.

Both these cousins seem to be engaging their mouths before their brains. They have for all intents and purposes shown a complete disdain for the His Majesty Tuanku Mizan Abidin. There appears to be deafening silence from Ibrahim Ali on this apparent act of lèse-majesté.

The time has come for a reckoning. We have given Umno more than 50 years of unfettered power. It is time we asserted ourselves by taking that back.
