A newspaper that prints so many lies and seditious articles and get away with it surely must have the endorsement and tacit approval of Umno.

Anonymous_3de1: Now we understand Umno's modus operandi in the art of political brinkmanship in playing the Malays against the opposition parties at the expense of racial harmony.

Moot a scheme, the people in Utusan and pro-Umno bloggers concoct a story - no matter how ridiculous and brazenly untrue - get it printed by the gutter press, and the unthinking and emotional readers will then bray for blood.

The so-called 'experts' and 'political analysts', the brain-dead buffoons in Perkasa, etc, will join in the chorus with the mainstream media, raising the issue to its crescendo with further spins and rationale.

But when things go awry, in comes the PM to placate the aggrieved parties who stupidly think that the culprits have repented and it's back to business as usual. But Utusan will go unpunished.

And when more Umno/BN shit hits the fan, the whole process is repeated to divert attention away from its problems.

Swipenter: This 'Putrajaya directive to the media' is nothing out of the ordinary. It is not news to Malaysians. It is an open secret. Any newspaper that prints so many lies and seditious articles and get away with it surely must have the endorsement and tacit approval of Umno, which is owner of Utusan.

P Dev Anand Pillai: Freedom of speech and association only applies if you are from the 'supreme' party and whatever the 'supreme' leader says is the gospel truth, and it must be published and propagated to the gullible Malay mind out there, which will then breed hatred and animosity.

This is the way it has been functioning from the time of Dr Mahathir Mohamad and the only way the other side of the coin was revealed was when the Internet became accessible to all.

It is no doubt that the whole Christian PM issue was the idea of the ruling elite to test and see the reaction of the Malays as to whether they will buy such a threat. It is about time that we stop political parties from owing newspapers.

Tuah PJ: "Utusan would run an issue for three days, unless it receives strong responses. Once other news organisations pick up on the issue, Utusan would then be free to start writing on other issues."

Yes, I noticed that Berita Harian is now picking up on the Christian state issue.

Nurul receives threat to kidnap daughter

Gandhi: The anti-Anwar movement is getting desperate and they might go all out to torment Anwar Ibrahim and his family. It's scary that desperadoes have come to this level to hurt an innocent child.

Against the Wind: Desperate times call for desperate measures. Find all means to finish off your greatest enemy and do whatever it takes - that's the desperate call of Umno to get rid of Anwar. Shame on Umno to resort to such lowly ways.

Chrispy: Another red herring? After the sabotaged car, all of these are designed to elicit public sympathy and to distract from the real issue of Anwar's immorality and sheer hypocrisy.

Solaris: Umno is clutching at straws. Their desperation will not end here. As GE13 draws closer, they will become more desperate and reckless. They will do anything to stay in power. Our already fragile racial unity will be their next target. The signs are already here. Beware.

Moontime: We all know that the threats came from desperate parties who finally realise that the day of reckoning will come. Using criminal intimidation to force a politician to retire is downright immature, childish and speaks of massive stupidity bordering on insanity.

Nurul Izzah, why are they so afraid of your dad? Will he go on a political witch-hunt the moment he becomes PM? I don't think so. Why risk chaos when there are better ways to deal with it?

I suspect a bigger agenda is involved here - one that is so desperate to prevent your dad to even step again into Parliament as opposition leader. Will he expose a massive mother-of-all-scandals soon? With all the bizarre happenings we are currently observing right now, this might be possible.

Tan Heng Ken: PM Najib Razak said they will defend Putrajaya at all cost. He is dead serious and going very low to achieve it.

No more sugar subsidy by next year?

Anonymous222: When tycoon Robert Kuok owned the sugar business, the subsidy and controls were in place. Almost immediately after he sold his sugar business, the government started to increase the sugar price, reducing the subsidy and controls. So who is the beneficiary? Another crony?

Onyourtoes: Just free the imports of sugar, cars and all other items that require APs (approved permits), and you can do away with your subsidies. You are not subsidising the people, you are subsidising BN cronies. So stop the bull and get on by dismantling all the distortions that you, BN, has imposed in this country.

Ksn: What will you, Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob, do when and if the global prices go down? What will be your policy about prices of other essential items as well?

How does your government plan to help the rakyat especially the poor and the retirees to adjust to the new cost of living under those circumstances? Or is it your strategy to let the people suffer under all circumstances? As the PM said, go change your lifestyle.

SMC77: It is time to change the government. Since the BN government cannot curb inflation, let see whether Pakatan Rakyat can do better.

A prime example is Penang. Under Gerakan, the Penang state government made losses for many years. But it made a small surplus in Pakatan's first year of administration. Let's have Pakatan take over the federal government and we might be surprised that we can probably cut down the budget deficit significantly without cutting the subsidies.

Anak Miri: Labour Day, oil price goes up. Mother's Day, sugar price goes up. Father's Day, what else is going to go up?
